I always buy whatever soap is on offer at my local supermarket and a few weeks ago the offer was buy one get one free on Pears liquid hand wash soap. I was attracted to the classy bottle and thought it would look good in my bathroom. I have never used Pears soap before although have seen it advertised. Here’s how it shaped up-
The packaging.

I really like the classy bottle, which really made it stand out from its rivals on the shelf. The soap itself is amber coloured like the bar version and looks rich inside the clear plastic bottle. The bottle has a very pleasing oval shape with a flat base with gold edging. The black top and writing finish off the look well. I would award this product 5 stars for packaging. The bottle can be recycled when empty.
The Soap.
*********
Pears soap, in its bar form, has been around since 1789. It was the brainchild of Andrew Pear, although very few people would have been able to afford such a luxury as soap in those days.
On using the soap for the first time I was impressed at how little I needed to produce a lovely creamy lather. Although this is marketed as hand soap I have used it both in the shower and bath. It is a lot less messy than the bar variety when you have small children!
Actually soap is a misnomer as this is a soap free product. I have sensitive skin that tends to get very dry after using some soaps but Pears left my skin feeling with no tightness.
Pears soap contains natural oils and doesn’t have an overpowering scent associated with some soaps. I love the smell of Pears! I think it has a really clean slightly floral smell, difficult to describe. My husband liked, as it wasn’t too feminine as he put it!
To sum up the soap suited all my family, smelt lovely, didn’t irritate our skin or dry it out and lathered well. Again 5 stars!
This is certainly not the cheapest soap around and even on offer I paid £2.49 for 2 237 ml bottles in Waitrose, this works out at £1.05 per 100ml. The bar version costs 65p in Tesco which is much cheaper.
I really like this soap and will buy it again but will probably buy the bar version due to the cost. Highly recommended!
Summary: A gentle,non drying soap
