Advantages: Smells gorgeous; Gentle; Lasts well
Disadvantages: The soap is a bit drying if you use it too regular
We used to use Pears soap always but now there are so many gorgeous smelling soaps available we lost interest in it a bit. I went through a phase of doing competitions in January and one of the few prizes I won was a Pears giftset, which sounds nice but it was actually very boring with just 2 bars of soap in it plus a Pears handwash and a hand towel branded with the Pears logo.
I gave them my mum for the downstairs bathroom because I keep my precious Lush soap in the upstairs bathroom where my dad isn't likely to get his oily fingers all over them.
The Pears is a bit bulky when it's new because its a proper thick oval shape but once the edges start rounding off a bit it's easier to hold. It's got a weird smell that I love but don't know why, the smell is a bit medicinal but very nice. I know this sounds mad but the smell makes me think of amber even though I don't think amber has even got a smell! It must be because of the translucent amber colour of the bar of soap that it makes me think it smells how it looks!
It makes my skin feel very clean after I've used it and I think this soap is very refreshing to use. It's a bit drying if you use it all the time but I don't wash in the downstairs bathroom very often so only get to use the Pears soap about 3 times a week. When I first won it I was so excited about winning my first competition that I used the first bar of soap all the time for about a week and during that time I noticed my skin getting tight and that I was having to put body lotion on more often than usual.
It's gentle though and hasn't got harsh chemicals in it, I only really use it now for washing my hands because I don't like the skin on my face being dry and think Lush soaps are loads better for washing your face with.
It's a nice soap though and doesn't melt when it's left in the wet by the side of the sink and a bar lasts for ages so it's good value as well.
Summary: A Lovely Bar Of Soap That Has Been Going For Years
