Advantages: Nice smell

Disadvantages: No lather, disintegrates too quickly, you need to use a lot

Harry always used to love baths as a baby, but after some unfortunate showers and sea experiences when we went to Mauritius just over a year ago, he has hated anything to do with the water and still does. We have to manhandle him into the bath, wash him as quickly as humanly possible and then get him out again, its just a nightmare! I have been trying to find things to make the bath more fun, from foam letters to ducks but nothing has helped. When I saw this Peppa Pig squirty soap in Boots, I thought it'd be worth a try and indeed he didn't scream as much as last time we bathed him! Result!

Peppa Pig is a hugely popular children's TV show shown on Five and Nick Jnr, and is aimed at toddlers. There has been a massive increase in popularity recently for the show, and Harry is certainly completely mad on it. We have books, puzzles, DVDs and now squirty soap to add to the collection, so lets hope he doesn't go off the show anytime soon! As well as the soap, I noticed that they also do a bubble bath and bath mitts in the range too, so you can also get those to complete the set if you wish! I don't think the products are as nice as Johnsons baby products but they are sold because they are a gimmick to young children and they will pester their parents until they let them try some, so good thinking on the part of the manufacturers I guess.

The soap comes in a 230ml aerosol container, but mine looks slightly different to the picture shown above. Mine has a red lid and has a picture of Peppa and her brother George covered in mud, and the name of the product at the top of the can. It says that it is a 'Blueberry Splash' scented soap, and has a few directional uses on the back. I found the soap very easy to use and the novelty of having a squirty soap is really going to appeal to young children, especially if you use it in a fun way and make bathtime that bit more fun because of it! The soap contains safe and non-toxic ingredients, but if your child has sensitive skin or something like Eczema, I would probably stick to the products you use because this isn't a big-name product (it's by Euromark) and as such doesn't come with the guarantees like Johnson's "No More Tears".

Before you use the soap, you should shake the can a couple of times just to get the liquid inside moving, and then press down on the white button at the top of the contained. The soap comes out easily, much like a shaving foam, and soon blows up to a nice big lump of soap on your hand. The smell of the blueberries comes out strongly and is nice and sweet, but not too over-powering which is very good. It does swell up quickly when its squirted out, so you don't need to press it too hard before a lot of it comes out then you end with too much! Harry went a bit mad with the button and sent a stream of it sailing across the bath and it just disappeared into the water, so that was slightly wasteful!

My main problem with the soap is how it spreads when I put it on Harry's body. I have a Johnson's foaming shampoo and this just spreads easily and lathers too when I apply it to his hair, so I expected the same of this product. However, it really did not do what I expected of it. It didn't spread very well at all, in fact it almost disintegrated when it touched his skin and I found it hard work to wash him thoroughly with it. I found myself using a lot of the soap to cover him, and he's not that big for a 3 year old so this was very disappointing. Harry found it immense fun when I squirted it at him but I wasn't really all that impressed with it. Harry's skin didn't smell particularly scented after use either which was a shame as I had hoped he would smell a bit like Blueberries, but sadly not... another disappointing thing there too.

I paid £1.99 for my container in Boots, and it can be found on Ebay for much higher prices if you're really that desperate to try it. The container has 230ml of soap, but I don't expect it to last long with the amount I have to use for each wash. I don't think I'll be buying it again when this one has run out because it isn't worth the money. I wasn't impressed with the none-lasting scent on Harry's skin, it didn't spread at all well over his body and I didn't think his skin was particularly soft or moisturised afterwards either which I always love after he has a bath with his Johnsons' products. It's definitely a gimmick product and one I am glad I tried with Harry because he loved it, but I am quite sure I won't be bothering with it again.

Thank you for reading.

Summary: A disappointing kids soap

I think I look forward to this programme each morning as much as my kids do.

Both my kids would probably love this but, like you say, it doesn't seem very good value for money x
