Advantages: Pain, if you enjoy it

Disadvantages: I have got hairy corned beef legs

Not for the first time in my life did my mum burst into my room to find me laid out on my bed screaming with a medium sized buzzing object between my legs. She looked embarrassed and turned to leave. I quickly ripped it off my leg to show her that indeed it was only a epilator!

She'd heard the screams and come to complain she couldn't hear Jeremy Kyle!

Why oh why?....

Well I bought my epilator in Boots and in search for my quest for eternal beauty I bought it. Normally on sale for £40.00 was reduced to £20.00 , accidentally happened to have a £10.00 sticker on it and they let me have it for the tenner! I'd always wanted one cos I suffer with very very hairy legs and in grown hairs, cos I've shaved them from the age of 15 whether they needed it or not thus making me have to do them daily now.

I'd heard all the stories of people buying them and using them once and chucking them in a cupboard till their ancient and eventually giving them in a bag to be collected from a charity, but that wouldn't happen to me I'm big, hard and brave! Well I'm not!

I did use it once, it did go in a cupboard and it stayed there till yesterday afternoon when I read a review on them on this site and thought I shall give mine a go tomorrow it cant be so bad a second time round , I'll get used to it!

At this point I'd forgotten that when I first bought it it near on killed me and I got brave and did under my armpits. Cos it was tricky I kept rubbing (and screaming) till all was removed. I was left with arms I couldn't put by my sides as they stung for days, I had cuts and dry skin. Weeks and weeks after I was very purply coloured like I'd been burnt and I thought it was going to scar me, for ages I wouldn't wear short sleeved tops and stuff and I couldn't use deodorant and at night weeks on I still covered my pits in Sudocream!

My Phillips Epilator....

It is a funky, red rechargeable one with green and red detachable buffers to help taught the skin as you go (mine have always dropped off!). It can be used plugged in or charged and has about half hour charge life. When plugged in its got a red light and the whole thing looks good! It has 2 speed settings. One for larger areas and the other is for the smaller, delicate areas like ankles and bikini line. It comes in a silver mesh pouch with a little brush and the whole thing is very nicely presented.

My Experience....

It was hell. Yes there's no denying it took the hairs out, my bed was covered and it's shocking how long a hair is when ripped out the root! However it hurts, and I mean it hurts. At one point I felt sick and the other I got cold and I couldn't stop shaking like i was in some short of shock.

It doesn't take all the hairs out at once so you have to keep going over the same places pushing in different directions and it makes skin ever so sore. Before you have done a shaving rash appears and your all bumpy. To get all the hair out I'd have to continue on but I cant cos I have a tingling sensation in my skin and mum just said to me 'why have you got corned beef legs' and I 'snapped why do you think!' So I don't think I should continue. I wouldn't be happy to go out with legs I know that hairs are still popping out of! I need to put a razor over them later but i know I shouldn't.
I cant have a bath yet cos your not supposed to use soapy stuff for a few hours after epilating. If I was going out later there is no way I could wear a skirt and no way i could get jiggy neither!

Overall....

The results are poor and no good to me. If its anything like the pain of labour i wont be having children!
My legs may not be so hairy but I didn't bet on looking like a brillo pad the next few days sobbbbbbbbbb

Small warning...

If you are going to use one of these things don't do it when your tired or due on, apparently your skin is more sensitive, I was neither by the way. I'm not even going to think about doing it round the 15th lmfao.

Good luck to all the brave gals!!!!!!!!!!

P.S I know where there will be an epilator going cheap, but you gotta provide your own piece of wood to bite lmao

Summary: Chubby Brown could say it better than I!

When you first start to use an epilator you need to do it in stages, not remove all hair at once, otherwise it hurts like hell (as in your case). After a few times your skin gets used to it and you feel the same amound of pain as in waxing, so it isn't that bad. Btw, I'm not one of those who enjoy pain (lol)
