Advantages: Nice smell, leaves skin feeling clean and smooth enough after using it
Disadvantages: Doesn't exfoliate skin in my opinion at all, smell vanishes almost immediately
After loving the Coconut Body Wash and not being so pleased with results with the Firming Body Wash from Primark I decided when I purchased this product it was make or break time for me when it came to the shower products from the store. It seems stuff is excellent or stuff is crap and there is not real in between with the toiletries. Whilst I didn't hate the firming body wash it didn't fulfill it's promises though as I pointed out (review is on here) it did my clean my body lol So to be fair when I bought this exfoliating body wash I was expecting the same sort of results from it. Something that would probably clean me well enough but it's winter and I want to give my skin a little bit of exfoliation! Particularly as I've bought myself a new fake tan!
The Packaging....
Clear 250ml tube with a light pink band of colour round the top of it. In black lettering I'm told it's Opia (the manufacturer of Primark toiletries) in the right hand corner and then length-ways down the tube I'm told it's Exfoliating Body Wash. On the back I'm told 'treat yourself with this pampering body wash containing exfoliant and added moisturiser to help soften and smooth your skin'. Then I'm told directions for use 'Squeeze onto a moist sponge, puff or hand. Lather and apply, rinse thoroughly'. I'm then told to avoid contact with eyes (and what to do if it does get in them), ingredients are listed, size is stated (as I've listed already, contact details for Primark are given and finally there is a bar-code on there. The packaging is ok, pretty enough but quite economy though it is functional and simple looking and provides all the information you could possibly need on it. I like the way I can see how much product I have left through the see through tube and it's a nice light pink colour which matches the colour on the tube so it's nicely co-ordinated to look at.
Using It....
Well the gel although it looks pink in the tube when dispensed onto my scrunchy it is a thin quite clear but cloudy looking gel with a tiny hint of pink colour to it. Now this is an incredibly runny liquid indeed, you don't even need to squeeze the tube to get the product out it simply flies out pretty much by itself.
The smell of the body wash is very light and delicate and slightly floral but it really doesn't smell strong when using it and once your patted dry the smell pretty much doesn't linger on the skin at all and it's none distinctive.
So using it you need quite a bit of the product to get a good white, thick, rich lather and in fact my tube has only lasted me 5 washes in total. Although it's a pound a bottle for this reason compared to stuff I normally buy I don't particularly find this all that economical in the greater scheme of things. Once you have enough product rub away and clean yourself! Yes the lather is rich and creamy enough (though not overly so) and it's quite smooth and comfortable to use..for an exfoliator? Well yes. It's not really very exfoliating at all that's why. I dampen or wet my skin and use a scrunchy and the particles or whatever the exfoliator is are quite smooth and blended into the gel incredibly well. They don't feel harsh or at all abrasive which in one way of course is a good thing as you don't feel your being attacked by a cheese grater but on the negative side?...Well you don't really get any exfoliating on the skin!
Yes I feel clean after using this body wash to be fair to it. Yes my skin feels naturally soft (as usual really) but I do miss not smelling as fresh as I feel and as a skin exfoliator this doesn't work without a doubt, and boy have I tried it's just too sloppy in consistency.
I have used this consistently for a couple of weeks (I bought more that one tube) and although I like the slight skin softness I get and clean skin my skin doesn't feel any better in general for using this. Recommended? For a pound yes if you have one spare why not try it but in my view this is far too thin a body wash and doesn't buff my skin up one bit so I personally won't be buying it again!
Summary: A body wash is all it is, but it does that well!
