Advantages: nice smell, anti-bacterial not tested on animals
Disadvantages: drying to my skin
Radox clean and protect was on special offer a few weeks ago in Somerfield for £1 per bottle so I decided to swap from my usual Carex to give it a go. I choose this one in the Radox range for its anti-bacterial properties. As I have to wash my hands lots after nappy changing and preparing food etc I do prefer anti-bacterial hand wash or soap to give me the reassurance that my hands not only look clean but are germ free too.
What Radox claim
******************
"People have used tea tree oil for years to look after their skin. It's a little like eucalyptus, slightly warm to the touch and just a bit tingly. We've blended it with a few sprigs of thyme to give our hand wash a light, fresh fragrance. Just the thing to protect your hardworking hands.
A few drops of tea tree oil, a sprig or two of thyme, some natural minerals, a perfect pH balance, a thumbs-up from the skin experts, 100 years of Radox know-how" taken from Radox
The product
*****************
It comes in a plastic bottle that can be recycled. It is a pump delivery bottle that you can buy refills for. The product does look a little bit different from the Dooyoo picture but the soap inside is the same.
I found the dispenser a little bit fiddly to open up with the combination of push down and twist so it now just stays in the open position.
On pumping into your hands a measure of the soap it delivers a good amount to lather up and wash your hands. The soap is a nice thick consistency and not to runny and stays on your hands when you put your hands into the water.
The smell I have to say surprised me I was expecting to notice straight away the tea tree smell as this is a familiar scent to me as I tend to use pure tea tree oil on midge bites and spots to bring down swelling and keep them clean. But the more noticeable note is the thyme and given Radox say they only put in a sprig or two this was astounding.
Radox claim that their products are ph balanced to be sensitive to skin. However I have found that using this soap for about 3 weeks now I do tend to now get small dry patches on the palms of my hands and the only thing that has changed in this time is this soap so I think it may not suit my skin totally.

Overall
************
I think I would be tempted to try a different product in the range that perhaps may be more gentle to my hands as though this is a nice product with a nice scent it is clearly too drying to my hands
You can buy this in most supermarkets it is currently on offer in Sainsburys for 80 pence

- 14/08/09 I find most anti-bacterial handwashes are too drying for my sensitive skin so I'm now using Method which doesn't include any Triclosan and suits me much better x |

- 14/08/09 I really must give this one a try. My usual brand is Carex. Time for a change. |
