Advantages: Pleasant Fresh Scent
Disadvantages: Too subtle for some
I buy a number of shower gels on my shopping trips to Asda, usually what is on special offer. I am under strict instruction from Mr Lools not to purchase anything with a lavender scent as it reminds him of old people and nursing homes (his words not mine!!). However after having guests staying one weekend a bottle of Radox Relax Lavender and Waterlily ended up in our bathroom cabinet and Mr Lools mistakenly started using it. Surprisingly despite this containing lavender he loved it.
***The Packaging***
The shower gel comes in a 250ml bottle. This is a flat oval shaped bottle with a flat bottom. The bottle is made from clear plastic packaging with a deep purple lid which is easy to open and shut even with wet hands. The top of the bottle has a deep purple handle which can be clicked up so you can hand the shower gel up when you are in the shower, but put down and save space when you are transporting the bottle. The shower gel inside of the packaging is a deep purple colour.
The claims on the packaging are that the sweet smell of lavender clears your head after a tiring day and the waterlily helps to soothe your body and mind. The shower gel is meant to be soothing and calming in its scent to help you to relax and unwind at the end of a hard day.
***Price***
The first bottle that we tried of this was actually free... however when I revisited Asda to replace the shower gel I found that this was priced at £1.48. Asda last week had the Radox unwind range on special offer, with 2 bottles for £2.50. I think for a 250ml sized bottle of Radox this is very reasonable. Not the cheapest of Shower gels but from a brand like Radox this is a good price.
***The Shower gel***
The shower gel comes out of the bottle very easily when you squeeze. The initial scent when you put it on your skin is quite a fresh and a light floral scent. Mr Lools does not usually like floral scents at all and refuses to put them near his skin but he commented that this scent when quite a fruity floral scent which is why he used it.
As you rub this into your skin in the shower you get quite a soapy lather with quite a small amount of shower gel. The lavender scent is slightly apparent as you rub it into your skin but isn't the most overpowering lavender scents. This washes off very easily and after washed off my skin felt very soft and quite moisturised. Although my skin felt moisturised it did not feel greasy and had a nice soft feel to it even before I got dried.
After I got dried my skin felt very clean and very smooth and soft. The scent of lavender was not really apparent but there was a very subtle fresh scent which I assume is the waterlily.
The scent is very pleasant however I did not feel more relaxed from the scent like the claims on the bottle had said. To feel relaxed I feel that a bath using one of the Radox bath products would have been more effective to relax me.
***Overall***
This is not my favourite shower gel and doesn't smell as good as shower gels from the Original Source range but is a very pleasant scent, especially as it contains Lavender. I feel the scent is very subtle and not at all overpowering, perfect for those that like a shower gel scent on their skin but don't like it to be the first thing that people smell when they walk into the room. This is more of a fresh scent rather than flowery like most lavender shower gels. A reasonable price and a handy bottle, shame it doesn't live up to the relaxing claims.
Summary: A pleasant smelling shower gel, although it doesn't make you unwind
