Advantages: Nice Bottle, Good Foam, Relaxing

Disadvantages: Price

I?ve been searching recently for a little inner calm. Life has been rather hectic and sleep has been somewhat lacking. Now I?m not going to try and claim I?ve found inner peace for a few quid on the shelves of Boots, But what I have found certainly has helped.

I regularly buy Radox products simply because that was the bubble bath of choice when I was growing up and my dad still uses it at home. It?s more a habit than anything.
I had seen the Radox Solutions range, but dismissed them because they are quite a lot more expensive than the traditional range and as I have no problem with ?normal? Radox, I was of the opinion ?if it aint broke don?t try to fix it.?
I only bought the Solutions product because it was on offer at Boots for £2.96 instead of the normal price of £4.29 for 150 ml. Even though that isn?t a great saving, I?m a sucker for the word ?Save? on price labels. Boots love me for it!

Radox ?Solutions? has been around for a few years now, but seems content to hover in the background behind its more popular brother.
It is a range of four bubble baths that are meant to provide ?solutions? to life?s little problems (well, the mind and the body ones anyway, they don?t do ones that pay the rent or do the washing up, unfortunately.)
It is cashing in on the general trend recently for aromatherapy and aromachology products (in which the positive effects of certain fragrances on the mood are used for benefits to health and well being). They contain natural ingredients and essential oils.

The range includes ?Skin Sanctuary? (protects skin from the harsh elements) with Aloe Vera, ?Precious Time?(soothes, calms and balances) with Patchouli and Ylang Ylang, ?Deep Calm?(makes you deeply calm, I assume) with Passionflower and the product I tried ?Deep Sleep?( have a guess what this ones for) with Lavender.

Radox products are endorsed by the British Spas Federation for their theraputic benefits and the Sleep Council.

Deep Sleep is like ?Radox Posh.? It is the upmarket equivalent to their best selling ?Sleep Easy? product.
It comes in a clear glass bottle and is a bi-phasic bath foam (that?s two layers of bubble bath to you and I.) The bottle is square shaped and the layers are two shades of purple blue. The bottom half is a really deep blue like the night sky (it has a picture of the moon on the label that is situated right in the middle of the sky bit.) The top half looks sort of like fluffy clouds. It is pale blue and frothy.
It looks especially nice if you peel all the labels off the bottle leaving just the plain glass ? very posh sat on the side of the bath. The only problem I could see with a glass bottle would be if it slipped into the bath it could be messy because its not going to bounce like a plastic bottle so the moral of the story is be careful!

The idea is to shake the bottle to mix the two layers before pouring the product under running water (I don?t know why its in layers, advertising gimmick I assume!) Shaken up it all goes the fluffy pale blue colour and looks far less impressive than in its original ?bi-phasic? state.

The smell in the bottle is not very nice. Its strong and quite medicinal, it doesn?t really smell of lavender. I was disappointed, but I thought I?d give it a go anyway.
When I poured it into the water it was surprisingly thin and watery. It should come with a warming of some sort about this, because I just kept pouring it in, assuming (very foolishly) that it was going to take quite a lot to get bubbles. This was a mistake?

Five minutes later and my bathroom resembled the inside of a snowdrift. There were bubbles everywhere.
This stuff is certainly a foam bath. The bubbles were really luxurious too, not like cheap bubble bath that foams loads but is actually just washing up liquid.
The bubbles smelled fantastic too. Added to the water something lovely happened to it. It still didn?t smell li
ke lavender but it was very nice all the same.

I had run the bath just before bedtime but I didn?t hold out much hope that a bubble bath was going to put me to sleep.
It claims that the lavender has calming effects so you can look forward to a good nights sleep.
But a bottle of vodka has calming effects too, and that hasn?t been helping me sleep recently so could Bubble Bath succeed where Alcohol had failed?
I doubted it?but I was pleasantly surprised.

I had a very relaxing bath and then went straight to bed (leaving the disaster of cleaning the bubble drift left in my bath tub until the following morning ? I couldn?t think of anything more likely to make me feel un calm than cleaning out the bath.)

I found myself drifting off to sleep really easily and I slept very well.
As I said, I?m not going to claim that bubble bath has solved the problems of my life and cured my insomnia. It could have been that I was just ready for a good sleep, but I think that the bubble bath might well have helped. It was obviously the undercover agent lavender that was hidden in there undetected that sneaked up and knocked me out when I was least expecting it!

(It also left my skin feeling really soft and the smell lingered on my skin as well, but this was not my reason for using it so it was just an added bonus ? there are better bath products for skin softening than this.)

There isn?t a great deal of difference between this product and normal Radox except for the price, but once in a while it makes a nice change if you fancy a bit of a treat, or it would make a good gift for a bubble bath fan.

Definitely worth giving it a try?and Radox, if you fancy creating a ?Solution? bath that will do my housework, let me know. I?ll be the first in the queue for that one!
