“ Brand: Lush / Type: Body Lotion / Subcategory: Conditioner „
I received this Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner as part of a Lush gift set, therefore my tub was the smaller 45g pot rather than the usual 225g pot that retails for £15.50. The pot is black with white writing and the trademark Lush logo. As with all Lush products it is not tested on animals and the pot is made completely from recycled plastic.
The main ingredients are; the much hyped about and current popular product Argan oil, cocoa butter, cupuacu butter, Brazil nut oil, almond oil and Shea butter all known for their conditioning and softening powers.
It is a skin conditioner so you basically use it on your body as you would use a hair conditioner on your hair! Smooth it onto wet or damp skin leave for a few minutes and then rinse off.
It is a screw top lid and on opening the tub you are greeted with a nice creamy looking conditioner. The initial fragrance is the noticeable scent of cocoa butter, which I think is what also gives it it's slightly brownish tinge. I am not a huge fan of the scent of cocoa butter, however I found this quite mild and not too overpowering.
It is very rich and creamy and you can instantly feel it working it's magic when slathered onto your skin and for hours and hours afterwards my skin feels nourished and comforted. I suffered no skin complaints after using this product and it seems gentle on my skin.
I have also used this on my 8 year old Daughter who suffers from very dry skin and flares up with eczema if harsh products are used. Again she suffered no complaints and it made her skin super soft. She also said it soothed the itching that she gets as an affect from the dry skin, so that's another plus.
I am still using my small pot, 2 months later so a little really does go a long way. The price tag may seem hefty but I think a full sized tub would last close to a year.
I love Lush and the fact that there are so many natural ingredients in their products. I love body butters and I have used Argan Oil in my hair before so I was more than a little excited about trying the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner.
What does the product do?
The product is essentially an intensive body moisturiser which promises to leave the skin feeling softer and smoother. One of the key ingredients, hence the name of the product, is Argan Oil. This is included because of it's anti aging qualities and it feeds the skin with Vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It contains Cocoa butter and Shea butter to hydrate the skin deeply and to nourish it leaving it in a better condition. It contains both Brazil nut oil and Almond oil to moisturise the skin and to nourish it with Vitamin E which helps to keep the skin looking youthful. There is also some Goji berry included which a superfood and should help to remove toxins from the skin. It is fragranced with a rose aroma which will apparently leave your smelling like a rose bush!
How do you use the product?
The product is applied in a way that I haven't experienced before. You are directed to use the product in the same way as you would use a hair conditioner. After cleansing the body, you are supposed to apply the product generously to your wet skin and massage the product into the skin. You then need to rinse off the product again and then pat the skin dry.
Packaging and Price
The product comes contained within the typical black pot that you would expect from Lush. It is plain other than some white writing which gives more information about the product. The product doesn't come cheap and it will cost around £15 for 225 grams. It can be bought from your local Lush store or from their online websites.
Application and Performance
The product has a very strong aroma to it. It smells like roses and if I had sniffed it before I probably wouldn't have bought it because it's not the type of aroma I would normally go for. It's so potent that it's not one that you can really get away from too. It has a thick consistency almost like a cross because a butter and a paste, and it has a few gritty bits in it. The packaging makes it easy to access the product so they'll be no wastage which is a very good thing when you consider the price. I have used it after showering.
I apply it to my body and massage it into my skin and then leave it on for a few minutes just like I would with a conditioner. As the product is so fragranced, I wondered if it would irritate my skin but it didn't cause to experience any itching or discomfort. I then turn the water back on and rinse off the product. It comes off quite easily and it doesn't take long before it's all gone. Once the skin is dry, the body does feel extremely hydrated to the point where it does feel a little bit greasy and waxy. I think it must be because of all the oils included within the product.
It does make my skin look well conditioned and it removes a lot of the dryness that I sometimes experience. My skin feels healthier right from the very first application and the effects last for days. I therefore use this as an intensive treatment once a week partly because of the price and partly because it has long lasting results. I think this would be a good one to use after sunbathing because the hydration is so intense. The rose aroma lasts on the skin too so you will have to make sure you like it.
All in all, this is a strange product but it does work. It is so hydrating and it leaves the skin feeling extremely soft and smooth. It removes all signs of dryness and feeling of tightness, leaving the skin looking and feeling in a better condition for a few days. It does leave you feeling slightly greasy for a while and it does smells strongly of roses. It is also expensive for such as small pot. Other than these things however, it is a good product and I will definitely be using it as an after sun product during my next holiday.
Lush always has "one of those products". Girls will know what I mean, that one product with a scent to absolutely die for and that you cannot live without. This is definately one of them. I hadn't heard much about this product and it was always one I passed by when I was instore. However, I was talking to one of the members of staff and I mentioned I how I loved the Rose Jam scent. She became very excited and led me over to Ro's Argan Body Conditioner. One sniff and I was hooked. It smells exactly the same as the Rose Jam Bubbleroon bubble bar. The scent is delicious - it is beautifully floral but with a hint of sweetness. It is reminds me of summer and is the perfect balance between sweet and floral. Sometimes rose scents smell a little old but this is not like that at all. It is a really fresh take on rose scents.
It comes in a black tub with a label on it which states "Ro's Argan" and it gives a little description of the product. It is a 240g which is filled right to the very top however it is very expensive at £15.50 per pot. So I do recommend using it sparingly.
The product is called a Body Conditioner and what this means is that you can use it all over your body. It is supposed to nourish your skin and leave it lovely and soft. The product is a light pink cream and you are supposed to apply a thin layer all over your skin (when wet) once you have got out of a warm bath or shower. You are then supposed to rinse it off lightly and towel dry. It uses Argan oil, which is a rare oil produced only in Morocco and is rich in vitamin E. It is believed it has anti-ageing properties. Lush also use cypress and vanilla infusions, cocoa butter, cupuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and fair trade shea butter.
When I use it, I do not rinse it off once I have applied it. The first time I used this, I did rinse it off and I found I lost all the scent and didn't feel as though I had even applied it. It actually felt a little bit of a waste. When I use it now, I leave my skin damp rather than wet and then smooth it all over with my hands. I find that the cream/conditioner easily absorbs into my skin this way and doesn't leave me with any greasy resisdue. It doesn't affect my skin at all by leaving it on rather than rinsing it off. My logic was that you don't rinse body cream or lotion off so it wouldn't matter if I left Ro's Argan on in the same way. The scent on my skin was very strong and I could smell it all day long. Much better than when I rinsed it off. My skin was lovely and smooth after use even though I had only used a small amount.
This product is also fabulous for just after you have shaved your legs. It really takes the redness down and eases the redness shaving sometimes causes.
All in all, this is an excellent product though it is very expensive. I used it quite sparingly and it lasted me around a month. It is definately one of my treat products. I will pick another pot up soon as hopefully we will have some summer and I think the scent is perfect for when it is hot and also I want my skin to be as smooth as possible.
I love this stuff! I was given a sample of it in my Lush package that I ordered from the Lush website.
The body conditioner is to be used like your hair conditioner. You simply apply it to a wet body after showering or bathing, rinse it off and towel dry your body. The smell of the lotion is very much of a floral scent, the main floral scent being rose. The smell is quite overpowering but you soon get used to it and I love it now. The product is £15.50 per 225g pot, but it is long lasting and you only need a small amount of it each time that you use it. The product is 100% natural and it hasn't been tested on animals.
The product feels lovely against the skin and it is really creamy and moisturising, I love it. I have sensitive skin all over my body (pretty much ALL over) and this product soothes my skin without irritating it. Plus the lovely scent lingers on your body after use, leaving me smelling lovely all day if I use it in the morning. The product is easy enough to use. I apply it in the shower as I don't have a bath at home. I apply the conditioner to my body once I have turned the shower off. This gives me time to rub the product into my skin thoroughly. I then turn the shower back on and rinse the product off.
After use my body FEELS like it has body lotion on it but it doesn't. Somehow the conditioner remains on your skin after use without it rinsing off. This leaves your body feeling soothed and moisturised. You can enjoy the feeling of having body lotion on your skin without it actually being on your skin.
I prefer this style of "in shower" body lotion as it saves both time and effort. Plus it's a joy to use.
Ro's Argan Body Conditioner
A bit about this wonderful company:
Lush is a smallish company that started as 'Cosmetics to go' a number of years ago. At that time it was mainly mail order but today there are quite a number of shops around the country and in 42 countries around the world. You can usually smell their shops before you reach their front door and this is the aroma that draws me in all too regularly.
You can also buy their products from Ebay but it is always wise to check postage and the cost of the product from lush as sometimes in the excitement of bidding you can end up paying more.
Lush also have their own website www.lush.co.uk and if you buy from here postage & packaging is £4.95 but at least you know that and can order enough products to make it worthwhile. It is worth going to have a look on the site as the layout and explanations of their products are written in a young, refreshing and lively way. It is a well laid out website full of information about their charities, products, their beliefs and jobs are advertised there too.
WHAT LUSH SAY
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
Ro knows good rose and her nose knows it!"
"Finished off with Simon's new Rose Jam scent, this product leaves you soft and smelling like a rose bush being kissed by the first rays of morning sun."
And I can think of no way better to describe this absolutely wonderful product.
WHY DID YOU BUY RO's ARGAN?
Well originally I had a sample and this was given to me as I was raving about the smell of Rose Jam Bubbleroon. The lovely girl washed and conditioned my hands in the shop but I was cheeky and asked for a sample to try in my hair at home. It was love at first sniff and so I had to have some. Unfortunately everything good comes at a price and this is no exception and for 225g you pay a massive £15.50. The smell is to die for it is rose absolute and so sweet and I just can't stop sniffing it. It is just the creamy version of Rose Jam.
WHAT IS THIS?
Well it is a cream and is marketed as a body conditioner. The idea is that after washing yourself you smother a thin layer of this over your body and then after a few minutes rinse it off. The argan oil, cocoa butter, cupuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and fair trade shea butter all combine together to make this the most amazingly moisturising feed for your skin.
I love this so much that I tend to wash my hands then rub this all over them and up my arms and I DON'T rinse it off. I then can sniff my hands and enjoy the wonderful rosy aroma until I next wash my hands. As all the ingredients are nourishing I can't see any harm in leaving it on and to me it seems a waste to rinse it down the drain. I have had no reaction to this method at all and just love the smell that wafts off my hands. I have had so many people compliment me on my perfume when wearing this and this is all the scent I had so you can tell it is pretty powerful.
I have not as yet smothered my entire body but have done the top part. My method is to have a bath then when I am warm and wet I smooth this over me and then it sort of dries me as i have rubbed this in and I just pat myself dry without rinsing again!
I was also told this was good for your hair but when I used it it felt very different from any conditioner I have used before. It then wouldn't rinse out and left my hair very greasy so I would not recommend it for your hair.
WHY IS THIS SO WONDERFUL?
Well firstly it is packed full of wonderful skin moisturising ingredients such as the miraculous argan oil.
Argan oil is a very rare oil which is only produced in Morocco and comes from the Argan tree. This is an ancient tree only found on the Souss Plains in the south west region of Morocco . There are only about 800,000 hectares and this is the only place where these trees are found. The local tribe, the Berbers, call it the 'Tree of Life' and it well known for its anti aging properties, it is rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids. Sadly the tree is endangered and in 1999 the Argan Forest was declared an International Biosphere by UNESCO sothey are now protected for their valuable oil.
Goats in Morocco climb these trees as they are usually quite low and often have twisted branches allowing the goats to clamber along their branches and feed on the leaves and fruit. The fruit has is green and fleshy a bit like an olive, but larger and rounder. Insidethe fruit there is a seed or nut with an extremely hard shell, which has one, two or three almond-shaped kernels. When the goats eat the fruit they leave the harder nuts which are then collected by farmers to produce oil.
The benefits of Aragn oil are so many that really you need to read these for yourself. If you want to see the gpats climbing the trees then go to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q69sORVW3UY.
Apart from Argan there are also these moisturising ingredients such as cocoa butter, cupuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and fair trade shea butter.
Cupuaçu butter is also from a tree closely related to the cocoa tree and is found in the Amazon rainforest. Its botanical name is Theobroma grandiflora and in Greek Theobroma means "food of the Gods". The fruit is eaten by the local people and has a uniquely fragrant flavour. Presumably the oil comes from the seed.
As you can see these ingredients are very special and this probably accounts for the price of the product!
The scented ingredients are Rose absolute , geranium oil and lemon oil and the final result is truly the most wonderful smell.
Lush also add some of the latest super goji berry juice which as many of you will know are known for their nutrient value and antioxidant content. They have been termed a superfruit, which has led finding them in so many health food and beauty products.
I absolutely love this body conditioner. I love the scent, I love the feel on my skin and I love the way it leaves my skin feeling soft and smelling gorgeous. I don't use it quite as Lush suggest. I would NOT recommend it for your hair as it was very odd feeling when I put it on my hair and then it wouldn't rinse out leaving my hair really greasy. I don't rinse it off my body either as it smells so lovely that I just smooth it on and let it sink in which I find leaves me really soft scented skin. As I said people have complimented me on my perfume when all I have put on my skin is this so it just shows what a wonderfully strong and sweet smelling rose scent it has.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this at all. It isn't cheap but the ingredients in the cream are expensive and you really only need a very small amount, about the same as with any normal body lotion.
