      Stretch mark banisher

This lotion was given to me by my mother who unfortunately had an allergic reaction to the product; not one to waste things she considerately passed the product to me some time ago. I've recently developed some exercise scars (stretch marks) on my arms, so thoughtfully I decided to test the efficacy of this product on that area. She bought it for £19.99 a while ago, whilst it was on offer in boots; you get 150ml of product, but since it's a targeted application and not an all over body lotion- that works out to be a fair quantity.

      Appearance & packaging:

A regal blue and golden design is the defining feature of this product; it reflects the higher class of brand, and the expense this product will incur. The primary language is French, with English as a secondary; it gives the product a fashionable outlook and makes it seem almost cutting edge. There are no directions, however some illustrations guide you as to where you should apply it.

The claims & my own experiences:

This product claims to firm essentially. Whilst I have not witnessed a firming action as such (because my skin is firm already), it did work exceedingly well on my stretch marks. They've diminished considerably, and the craters have puffed out, improving the texture of the skin and evenness. Although this may not have been the indicated use of this product, I decided to try it because the product boldly states it contains retinol, an ingredient which to my knowledge promotes cell turnover. It certainly has done that. I've used it consistently, once a day, for two months. You won't see results right away, it will take time for your cells to turnover (though don't ask me to give you exact times because I'm not a dermatologist).
It smells distinctive; I can't put my finger on it, it's slightly alcohol-like. It's very saline, yet not unpleasant to the nose. The texture is almost like a gel/lotion mix, it feels cold and smooth. It's a soft pinky white colour, very feminine.

      To summarise:
Worth a try on your bust, tummy, stretch marks (especially), bum or thighs if you have the cash spare. It's not perfect, but it does the job considerably. Don't splash out if you're budgeting but if you have the cash free- this is a good one to try.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A complete waste of time and money.

I received a RoC gift set for Christmas from my Mum, which contained various anti-ageing creams along with a tin of this retinol Multi-Correxion body cream. As the cream is designed to firm up the skin and target cellulite, I'm not quite sure how to take being given this as a gift. My Mum clearly wants me to tackle my wrinkles and cellulite!

As I didn't purchase this product myself, I just did a quick search online to find the RRP, and was absolutely horrified to see it is £24 for a mere 150ml tin! That is absolutley extortionate and I do hope my Mum didn't pay anywhere near that much for it!

The cream contains caffeine and vitamin A, which is supposed to combat cellulite, vitamin C to help fade dark spots, and an ingredient called tetrahydroxypropyl ethylenediamine (!) which will tone me up to the extent that my silhouette will be re-modelled! With claims like this, I can see why people would be willing to pay £24 for this stuff- it sounds an absolute miracle product!

The tin tells me the product can cause temporary side effects including redness, tingling, and heat sensation, which I found rather alarming. I have quite sensative skin, so I was a little worried I would have an allergic reaction. The instructions say to rub the product in a circular motion into the affected areas twice a day.

For starters I was not impressed the product needed to be used twice a day- 150ml of body cream is not that much to start with, and using it twice a day the tin only lasted a month! The cream is packaged into an aerosol, so you get fairly good control about how much product you use at a time. The cream is a pale pink colour, and doesn't smell particularly nice- it's a very chemical smell, although it does fade after the product has been rubbed in.

Having used the product twice a day for a month, I have to say I have noticed no difference in my skin whatsoever. My cellulite patches look exactly the same, and my silhouette has definitely not been re-modelled! A cheap basic moisturiser would have left my legs in exactly the same condition, and I was hugely disappointed by this. I am definitely not buying a second tin to see if there are any effects after 8 weeks! In any case, even if this product did work, the effects would only be temporary, and as soon as you ran out of money the cellulite would creep back, so I really don't think this product is worth the time or the money.

I guess the old saying is true here- if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is! If I had bought the product I would be writing a letter of complaint to RoC to inform them their ridiculously priced body cream was absolutely useless, and ask for my money back! However as it was a gift I can't do this.

This product is a complete waste of time and I can't recommend strongly enough that you keep your money and don't buy it! If you want to improve your cellulite then you would be better off drinking more water and trying to cut down on sugary foods. That costs nothing and has a chance of actually working, which is more than I can say for this cream. A real disappointment from RoC.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

If you can afford it then I'd definitely recommend it

I have tried several anti-cellulite creams, lotions and potions over the years (hey, a girl's gotta have some hope!) and I have to say this is the only one that has ever seemed to make any slight difference at all.

I first bought this cream some time ago, it cost me an arm and a leg in Boots, well, about £22 to be exact, but having tried other ROC products and feeling they were worth paying the extra cost for I decided I'd take the plunge and give it a go.

It suggests to use it twice a day, though in fairness if you did the bottle wouldn't last you very long and it would become ultra expensive, so I just used it once per day, at night. It has a gel-like texture, orange in colour and also smells slightly orangey. It seems slightly sticky at first but sinks into the skin well.

After using this product for 6-8 weeks or so I definately found an improvement in my cellulite. Now I have to say here that it did not lose inches off my thighs or anything like that, so if that is what you are looking for then this product isn't the one to do it. I also have to say that I don't have excessively large and lumpy thighs, just your average 'slightly-bigger-than-i'd-like-and-not-as-smooth-as-they-could-be' type thighs that most women are a bit unhappy with. Either way it definately smoothed them.

I'd like to end the tale by saying that after several months / years of using this product I am now happily cellulite free but unfortunately I simply couldn't afford to keep using it once I left full time work to study! However, I used it for a total of around 5 or 6 months and I was very happy with it. I think if you can afford it, you use it regularly (the recommended twice a day) and you don't expect an overnight miracle then I really think that combined with a good diet and exercise and all of the other cellulite-busting things we are supposed to do that this will help reduce the really stubborn stuff.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

a great body moisturiser but overpriced unless you can buy it on offer.

I bought this on offer in TJ Hughes so thought I'd give it a go as Roc always have such a good reputation. I wasn't fooled into believing it would help 1 iota with cellulite - it's a lovely idea but come on, we're not that easily fooled to believe that something out of a can will effect the fat deposits under the skin!

the good thing about it is that it smells lovely - light and fresh and not at all overpowering. it's easy to apply and sinks in very quickly leaving the skin feeling soft and moisturized. The can nozzle can clog up quite easily so not very much comes out at times which gets a bit irritating.

I have been using it for a few weeks now and I can honestly say I haven't seen any difference whatsoever in my jiggly bits. My skin does feel much more moisturised though - I've been using it on my legs as well as arms and tummy and my skin feels soft and silkier. So as a body moisturiser it's great - especially as I picked it up as a bargain. However I wouldn't pay full price for it and I certainly wouldn't buy it in the hope that it will help cellulite - no cream can do that.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Great on stretch marks but not on anything else!

Ok there is no fooling me. I'm not fooled into believing a cream can take 6 inches off my waist in 6 weeks and neither am I convinced I can eat what I like and have a flat tum by chucking on some cream onto my flab.

I'm not going to ever have a perfect body, I've never possessed one and at 33 my quest for perfection has ended!

      However....

I saw this at T.G Hughes reduced from £14.99 to £2.50, boxed and I couldn't resist trying it cos if nothing else..it's going to be a good body lotion!

      The Packaging....

Gold box with the name and what it is clearly stated on it (Roc, Retinol Body Modelling 'expert'. I'm told it's moisturising slimming care and is also 150ml. On the back of the box I'm told loads of information but it's in foreign languages I don't understand and the same on the other side of the box. Then on the other side of the box I'm told why and how it should work and what to expect from it and how to use it.

How And Why It should Work...

Technological innovation Roc's latest generation care provides advanced efficiency thanks to it's new 'lipo-reduction technology'. The new formula contains a unique association of effective ingredients.

Retinol - An active vitamin recognised to help maintain skin's tone and elasticity.
Roc's new lipo-reduction agent and caffeine: combined to help energise cells and help to reduce fatty deposits.
From first application, your skin is moisturised, visibly softer, smoother and more toned.
      Clinically proven efficiency.

      In 8 weeks..

Your skin is visibly firmer, visible efficacy on 91% of women.
The orange peel appearance is visibly reduced: visibly reduced: visibly efficacy on 86% of women.
Stubborn zones appearance is visibly diminished: visibly efficacy on 70% of women.
Your figure is visibly reshaped and slimmed - 2cm average and up to 3.7cm reduction of the waist.

      How To Use....

Apply twice a day on the desired area: stomach, thighs, buttocks and hips with light circular massages. It's cream-gel texture, slightly perfumed and highly-absorbent, provides an immediate sensation of freshness. Allows you to dress quickly after application. Use all year round or in a two month regime.

The bottle matches the box, gold aluminium tin again stating what the product is and who it is by and and tells me on the back what to do in case of the dispenser clogging up. It has a clear plastic push on/off lid and the lotion is dispensed by a button at the top.

      Using It...

Firstly the white lotion is as I said dispensed by the push down button. Basically one push and lotion is dispensed till you stop pushing it. The tin is worth mentioning cos it's very well thought out. Although it is smooth it's kind of frosted which makes it easy to handle through out the application. This impressed me.

The smell of lotion however is not pleasant at all. It's not medical or anything but it is kind of floral and menthol and highly fragranced instead of as promised light. It really isn't light and I don't like the smell at all, in fact it makes me feel sick and I can smell it even when it's completely dried into my skin and I have my clothes on!

The lotion is simple to apply it's really easy and because it is fairly thin spreads on the desired area easily and you don't need very much even for big areas like my bum!
Use to much and it takes ages to evaporate into the area and it's slightly sticky so for me less is more and I add a small amount and if I need more then I can add it and omit the sticky feeling. You really need to use this with caution cos the stickiness just isn't pleasant at all and if you get dressed and you've put to much on then it gets over your clothes and grease gets everywhere! I did this but not with clothes, I put on fleecy dressing gown after using it and I got stuck up!

      Results...

Well I've been using it for over 8 weeks. Now if you have alot of area to do and you want this product then one bottle possibly won't last you that length of time so do be warned.

From the first application I did notice that immediately after using skin felt softer. I do have stretch marks on my stomach from gaining and losing weight and I do have some orange peel on the back of my legs and they were softened immediately. This is one of them products that every time you use it you will notice that, it's just a really good moisturiser in that respect.

      Long term results....?

Skin is definitely better to the touch but the appearance is no different. I haven't suddenly got a smaller waist or a flat belly. This is not a diet in a can no matter how its marketed. However skin does to me feel a little bit more firmer round my tummy though that could be my imagination. However as I said this is a really good body moisturiser and in fact one of the best I've ever used once I got the hang of it but the smell is too much to take. Now I would've used it as a treatment regardless of the fragrance if it worked but just cos it gives me soft skin? Not a flipping chance!

      Overall...

Disappointing. Not to me cos I didn't expect it to work I bought it cheap after all but it would be to someone who went and splashed out on this as it isn't cheap in my book. great to smoothen and soften stretch marks but this isn't a miracle and you wont go from Dawn French to Kate Moss in 8 weeks sorry to shatter any illusions lol
