Advantages: smells lovely
Disadvantages: quite gloopy
In an effort to stop my teenage daughter using my nice shower products, I always buy a supermarket own fruity gel to appease her slightly. The trouble is I always end up using them myself as well.
My favourite at the moment is the Sainsbury's own blueberry burst shower gel. It comes in the great budget scale of 99p for 250ml, which is a bargain in my weekly trolley.
I like the way this shower gel is packaged differently to other supermarket own brands. Instead of being packaged in a bottle with a hook for hanging in the shower, this one is designed in a more sleek way in an almost triangular tube. The lid is bottom down with a flip lid, and the tube is a flexible material to enable ease of application from the tube. As it's see through you can see the colour of the product you are about to apply.
I remember choosing the blueberry burst for the colour of the product. A nice deep blue that borders almost on being purple but not quite. It appears to have a nice sheen to it through the packaging and looks like its worth much more than the small price you pay for it.
Opening the tube I was expecting a huge waft of blueberry to hit me, but it's slightly more on the subtle side until you put your nose into the product a bit more. When the smell does get you it's a nice sweet blueberry smell that does represent the actual fruit quite well, albeit with an overload of sweetness to it.
The gel itself comes out of the tube well, but in quite a gloopy manner. I found very quickly that I didn't need a lot to get a decent lather up on my body, but what I did find straight away was that the shower gel was acting like a jelly substance on my skin until I massaged it in quite well. This put me off the first time I used it but I soon found it was nothing to be concerned about.
For 99p I wasn't expecting miracles on how it made my skin feel after use, but I can report that it does make my skin feel averagely soft, in fact a lot better than some of the other more expensive products I have used lately which was a nice surprise. I can smell the blueberry faintly a couple of hours after use but it doesn't stand out as a product alone on my skin, so wouldn't act as a nice fragrance through the day unfortunately.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised with the results this gel gives me. I have found that the tube will last just over a week with constant use by a teenager as well as occasionally use by me. I think this could be eeked out to last longer but I'm sure my daughter wastes a lot in the shower.
I will definitely be looking out for the other fragrances in the range when I need to buy some more.
Summary: a great budget shower gel
