Advantages: Smells scrumptious, well-designed pot, good value, leaves skin silky-soft
Disadvantages: Could be a bit richer and thicker
***Packaging***
This body butter, which promises a "truly fresh experience" comes packaged in a sturdy plastic screw-top pot with a lid that is easy to replace even if you've got cream on your hands - a very important feature for me! The photo on the lid shows a couple of nectarines and some slices of mango artfully arranged againt a white background. It doesn't have an additional cellophane or cardboard covering, which makes it more environmentally friendly than some other beauty products, and the pot can easily be cleaned out after use and used to store other cosmetics or small items. What'a more, its shape is such that you can get every last drop of the product out without any problems.
***Application***
The texture is slightly lighter, creamier and less solid than the other body butters I've used (e.g. Body Shop nut butters) but this means that it's not all greasy and sinks into the skin more quickly than thicker products. It is very easy to apply as it's not thin or gloopy like body lotion, so there's no mess, but it glides across the skin very easily and doesn't need a lot of rubbing in.
***Fragrance***
Although it's mango and nectarine scented, the product smells overwhelmingly of sweet, tasty, ripe peaches (at least to my nose!). The first time I used it I had just brought the pot home and it was still cold from being outside. I think it was the temperature, combined with the pale colour and the creamy texture, gave me a momentary sensation of applying creamy peach yoghurt to my skin, which really put me off! After the body butter adjusted to room temperature, though, it was fine. I like the smell so much that I've started using the butter as hand cream now and then (though its not really the right consistency for that). When used as a body butter (on my arns and legs) the fragrance lasts a couple of hours - longer if I'm covered up with tights or a long-sleeved jumper.
***Effects***
Since the body butter isn't as thick as I expected, I didn't think it would have that much of an effect on my skin, as my legs get really dry and irritated in the winter from temperature changes and wearing tights, and need lots of TLC. I was pleased that this product soothed my legs and didn't make them itchy or red as some other body care products do, but it wasn't really rich enough. I was really pleasantly suprised with the effect it had on my arms though - almost 24 hours after application I noticed that the skin felt incredibly smooth.
***Verdict***
I'd buy this again, though probably not in the bleak midwinter, when I need something a bit stronger! It's £2.92 for a 200ml pot, so good value compared to the likes of the Body Shop.
Summary: Just peachy - a lovely product for normal skin
