Advantages: Works well and is so hydrating and kind to the skin

Disadvantages: None really

When it comes to shaving gels they're simply not something I buy very often at all. I either epilate my legs (ouch) or simply shave them and if I do shave my bits and bobs I always use Dove soap and I am more than happy with the results I achieve through that.

However the other day I had spare money in my pocket burning holes so I decided to stock up on razor blades for my Venus and get some shaving gels and stuff ready to bear all in the garden at the first ray of sunshine!

I saw this in Sainsbury's at the price of £1.36 and decided to give it a whirl!

The Packaging....

200ml steel green long can with an integrated push button dispenser and over that a light green plastic lid pulls on/off easily. In dark and light green writing I'm told it's Sainsbury's Shave Gel For Sensitive Skin 'With added aloe vera'. On the back of the can I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use and warnings are listed, ingredients and contact details for Sainsbury's are given and finally the size and bar-code are on there. Nice simple packaging..this is.

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Can....

Sainsbury's Ladies Shave gel has been specially formulated for sensitive skin. Its extra rich, creamy lather helps improve razor glide, giving you a closer and more comfortable shave.

Contains Aloe Vera, renowned for it's skin soothing properties.
Suitable for legs, bikini and under arm.
Dermatologically tested.

Directions For Use....

Wet skin and dispense the required amount of gel onto the fingertips. Massage gently into rich lather. Shave and rinse skin thoroughly with water after use.

Me Using It....

Well like I say I usually use Dove soap to shave my legs with and that and I know that, that leaves my skin beautiful, clean and soft so I was a bit apprehensive of changing to using this! I used it in the bath and in the shower (step away from the water lol!).

So I dispensed a little bit of the thin but hardish light green transparent gel onto my fingers as directed and then gently massaged it onto damp/wet legs and places. It foamed up really richly and white in colour and felt incredibly moisturising and a little went a very long way indeed. Smell wise it has a fresh 'green' kind of smell to it. It's not amazingly feminine in smell but it is nice enough and once you rinse it off you can't smell it left on the skin anyway very much.

So I basically shaved my legs, under my arms and erm other er places! My razor glided well removing the foam to which I then just kept rinsing it off my razor so I could continue to see what I was doing.

I was happy and confident using this and it rinsed off extremely easily and left everywhere I touched with my razor smooth as a babies bum! I was very lightly fragranced but that vanishes quick and my skin did feel slightly hydrated and nourishes. I had no nasty nicks anywhere I shouldn't and I didn't need to moisturise after-wards either.

Overall....

If you feel the need to use a shaving foam or gel ladies than this is really great. As I said a little of this goes along way, it's simple to use and is of a really thick consitency that feels moisturising and safe to use at the same time. However would I buy it again?

No. It isn't for me because I don't like the extra work involved. I prefer to lather up with soap or shower gel or something, shave and rinse and I'm clean and smooth in one easy step. With this it gives another job to do! I'll be sticking to soap etc but if you must have a product like this it really is great and worth every penny!

Only available in Sainsbury's.

Summary: Cheap as chips and it works well!
