~Lovely Body Lotion~
Lovely is a fragrance by Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker. To compliment the eau de parfum, a body lotion is also offered. Both products can be used alone or together for a layered scent.
This body lotion promises to deliver soft and beautifully perfumed skin. Lovely is part of the 'floral' fragrance family and this 'soft' body lotion should offer fragrance notes of apple martini, white amber and patchouli. Notes of bergamot, lavender, orchid, rosewood, musk, and cedar make up the overall Lovely fragrance.
Lovely body lotion is presented in a baby pink, plastic tube. The tube has a simple design with no pictures - just gold writing confirming the scent name. The tube features a flip cap at the base for easy dispensing. The tube can be recycled and has a 24month shelf life. I find the tube to be feminine and quite cute in appearance as well as being functional.
~Price and Availability~
A full size tube of Lovely contains 200ml. It can be purchased online from eBay and also www.directcosmetics.com. It has an rrp of £16.00 but the website mentioned has it on offer at just £6.99.
I have always had an interest in trying celebrity endorsed fragrances. I received a Lovely gift set last year and whilst I used the perfume up quite quickly, I have only recently got around to using my tube of body lotion (that is what happens when you have around 100 to choose from each morning - some get lost!). At the current selling price, this body lotion is definitely worth a try in my opinion.
Whilst not as luxurious as premium brands, this body lotion is pleasant to use day to day. The fragrance is very much like the EDP but in a subtler way which I find appealing as the EDP was often a little overpowering for my personal tastes. This body lotion has a lightweight, slightly creamy consistency but is no where near as rich as many body lotions I own. It is lovely to apply as it is incredibly smooth and cooling so it spreads well and changes to a thin but non messy liquid on contact with my skin.
Despite not being very rich, this body lotion is suprisingly moisturising. It absorbs almost instantly leaving my skin feeling moisturised and super soft for most of the day.It doesn't provide a massive amount of moisturisation to the rougher areas of my skin nor would I expect a lotion to do so. It isn't harsh on my sensitive skin like some body lotions can be. The scent of this body lotion isn't overpowering at all - it flows beautifully and has a pleasant strength for the duration that I can witness it on my skin.
I cannot imagine this scent appealing to teenagers as it is quite a sophisticated, classy scent in my opinion. I find it perfect for wearing in the evening. The apple martini doesn't shine through as much as I would have hoped but there is a slight sharp sweetness when I initially apply this body lotion. The scent softens to reveal a subtle floral orientated heart courtesy of the rosewood and patchouli. After a few hours, the warmth of the amber, musk and cedar become noticeable and finish off this beautifully feminine fragrance.
As a stand alone body lotion, I can detect the fragrance around 6hours after initial application. Layered with the EDP, the fragrance has the potential to top 10 hours which I find excellent. This body lotion is quick and easy to apply and a little goes a long way making it even better value for money. I like it - I do not wear it often as it is not my favourite but it as lovely body lotion to wear and I can recommend it.
Thanks for reading :)
After Christmas I was looking for some cheap perfume bargains and I saw a gift set in the perfume shop of Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely. It contained a 50ml bottle of the perfume plus a soft body lotion and a bath and shower gel. Now I have my usual scents and often stick to them but I was looking for something I could have on my desk at work. The set was £14 which I thought was amazing value so I snapped it up!
The body lotion comes in a light pink tube with relatively little writing on it. It simply says Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker and states its soft body lotion and how much is in the bottle. The writing is in gold and I think this nice simple style makes it look classic and quite upmarket. Some garish bottles and packaging can just put me right off.
The lotion itself is, well, body lotion. I can't say its immensely different from any other body lotion although I do quite like it's smell. I probably wouldn't buy this body lotion on its own as I find dove or johnsons just as good and they would be a cheaper price. However for having on my desk it is useful. It is also a handy size if I were travelling I would probably want something a little bit smaller than the bottles I have on my shelf at home so this would do perfectly.
The perfume itself is also fine, the scent is not particulary strong but it smells quite fresh and for a day perfume you don't want something too overpowering. The bottle again has very little writing on it which I like.
This gift set was exactly what I was looking for at the time. A bargain at £14 for perfume, lotion and shower gel, I cannot complain. I probably wouldnt buy any of the items separately as I have favourite perfumes and lotions but for what I wanted it was great.
This Body Lotion has a lovely smell, and certainly does compliment the smell of Sarah Jessica Parker's purfume of the same name. However, I would probably not buy this item separately considering there are so many other lotions available on the market, and some of which are considerably cheaper. The lotion sinks into the skin well and leaves skin feeling quite smooth, however, the smell does not last and sometimes one coat of this lotion does not feel like enough. I would recommend using this lotion on special occassions and only worn with the matching purfume, to really bring out the smell. If you spray the purfume on top of the lotion, the purfume almost 'sticks' and therefore makes the smell linger more. Not the best value for money ever, but the packaging is very pretty and would make a lovely gift when bought together as a gift set with the purfume.
As a huge fan of Sarah Jessica Parker's 'Lovely' perfume, when the opportunity arose recently to try the accompanying body lotion and shower gel I leapt at the chance.
I recently bought a gift set of Lovely fragrance, body lotion and shower gel in smaller, almost 'travel' sizes. This review relates to the sumptuous body lotion.
~*~* The fragrance *~*~
The moisturiser is infused with the SJP 'Lovely' scent - this is an ultra-feminine, sweet and classic scent. The scent has top notes of bergamot, rosewood and lavender and middle notes of patchouli and orchid, while the base notes are of cedar, white amber and musk. Of these, I feel that the orchid and musk scents stand out the most, leaving the fragrance quite heady and sweet, ideal for a decadent everyday scent or classic special occasion perfume.
~*~*~ The packaging and price *~*~
The soft body moisturiser is sold in a pretty, baby-pink plastic tube with a flip-top cap at the base. The soft pink tube has the 'Lovely' and 'Sarah Jessica Parker' details, as well as 'soft body lotion' title written in a gently iridescent gold font. The cap is easy to open, but does secure tightly which means no moisturiser explosions in your handbag! It is easy to control the amount of lotion dispensed, as the tube can be gently squeezed with no excess squirting out.
The body lotion is sold in a variety of sizes (50ml, 75ml and 200ml). I bought a 50ml lotion as part of a gift set from The Perfume Shop on special offer at £14, however I know the same shop sells the 200ml version alone for £14.50. The product can also be bought from other perfume shops, online retailers, as well as Boots (200ml for £15) and Amazon. This does make it quite expensive compared to other body moisturisers and may not be something for everyday, continued use because of this, however if you like the scent and like layering up to give a more intense perfume, it is one to consider.
~*~* The lotion *~*~
The lotion is a nice, thick and creamy texture which is not too fluid and runny. The lotion is a pale pinky-white colour and, even on dispensing a tiny amount, you realise the lotion is infused in fragrance which is quite intense. The lotion spreads easily onto the skin and is very quickly absorbed - because it is not too thick, nor is it too fluid and watery, it is quite economical to use as only a small amount is needed to moisturise a large area such as your arms or legs.
The Lovely perfume scent is completely infused into the lotion. On spreading the moisturiser onto your skin, you can immediately detect a layer of the perfume, as if you have directly spritzed it on. This scent lasts for hours - I was pleasantly surprised with how hard-wearing it is, lasting well into the day and evening. The scent is also very true to the original Lovely fragrance, so there is no clashing of scents but rather successful layering.
The moisturiser itself is also very high quality - I found that only a small amount was needed to moisturise my hands (a pea-sized amount) while I used a 50pence-piece sized blob for my arms. My skin felt refreshed instantly and has remained moisturised and free from dry, taut-feeling and 'ashiness' for the whole day which is great, with no itchy irritation.
~*~* The verdict *~*~
This moisturiser is - like the fragrance - absolutely lovely. The fragrance is quite concentrated and lasts for hours and, as a moisturiser, it works well, leaving my skin hydrated for hours.
The moisturiser is quite expensive when compared to standard or even premium, unfragranced moisturisers however if you are looking for an effective - and moisturising - substitute for your Lovely fragrance or just want to make the perfume go further, it may well be a handy purchase and is a nice feature as part of a gift set.
