Making sure my body is hydrated and well moisturised is not just a vanity thing for me or even a pleasurable thing, it's a necessity. I was diagnosed with having psoriasis at the age of 26 years old and one of the things I have been frequently told by my GP is its important to keep my skin supple and hydrated as much as possible. As much as I love using body products, when younger I have been abit lazy. I learnt my lesson one eventful morning on the way to get a coach to go to London. My legs began to feel alittle on the itchy side, literally from no where it hit me. Then it got worse and by the time I was into a 10 minute walk I desperately wanted to rip my jeans to pieces and rip my skin off! I couldn't remember if I had put a body cream on or not, but was going to make a last minute dash to Boots to buy some cream to throw onto myself. Luckily, the itchy sensation stopped so didn't need to buy a product but from that day on I have never gone without putting on cream on at least once a day but 9/10 times twice a day morning and night ( the once a day is down to time consuming children! ).
I bought this body butter as part of a kit from QVC for £23.00 ( not including p and p ). The product is 450ml in size.
Why did I buy it?
My opening statement explains it all. The words ' body butter ' scream moisture to me which is ideal. The Superfruits range from SBC I had never experienced before, and the way it was being demonstrated on the TV and the price, made it a must buy purchase!
How is it packaged?
It comes in a 450ml sized plastic clear jar with a lid that screws to open/shut. Very basic and plain to look at. On the front is the full company name ' Simply Beautiful Collection ' with the range name which is Superfruits just underneath. It tells you theres added pomegranate in product and it's a body butter.
On back theres ingredients list and what product is supposed to do.
Aqua, Glycerin, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, Glyceryl stearate, Dicaprylyl ether Caprylic/capric triglyceride, Cetearyl alcohol,Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin,Cetearyl glucoside,Theobroma cacao (cocoa) butter, Mangifera indica (mango) butter,Punica granatum (pomegranate) fruit extract,Rubus idaeus (raspberry) fruit extract, Vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry) fruit extract,Rosa damascena (rose) flower water, Parfum Xanthan gum, Sodium polyacrylate, Sodium stearoyl glutamate,Chlorphenesin,Potassium sorbate Sodium benzoate,CI 17200,CI 42090.
How to use
Apply daily to body after bathing. Massage in until absorbed.
What is it supposed to do?
Its supposed to moisturise and nourish the skin on the body. Is supposed to contain less water than lotions and gels, perfect for dry skin and suitable for all members of the family.
How would this slot into my routine?
I would apply this product to the body after showering, when the skin was still warm. Either on top of the Superfruits gel, but most of the time purely on its on with no other product.
How do I find this?
Im actually quite sad this has finished recently. This is pure decadence and indulgence in a jar. Firstly, it's a pale pinky purple colour. When you first open the jar ( besides the colour ) two things spring to mind-one is the fragrance and the other is how solid it looks. The fragrance is like the other items in this range, fruity and sweet. You can definitely smell berries, such as raspberry in this. Not too sure whether the guys would like this as I would associate fruity/foody smells with being more girlie because of the sweetness, but I would be prepared for it being pinched by the other half! The thickness of the product is obvious-it looks smooth and solid in the jar. When you pop your fingers in for the first time its quite thick, dense and full so you can only imagine what this is going to do on the skin.
Application I thought would be tricky because of the consistency of the product. All I did was take a decent amount in my hands ( for once I didn't go overboard! ) and warm the product between my palms before placing it on my skin This way it became less dense and much more manageable. Surprisingly, it glided over the skin like a dream which made it easy to use. I expected my skin afterwards to be very greasy and for the product to appear to sit on the skin rather than be soaked in but I was completely wrong. It sunk into the skin quite quickly and left the skin with a glorious sheen to it, not greasy in look or touch, just moisturised. I did wait abit before putting clothes on but not too long.
Skin after use looked healthy, hydrated, supple and smooth.
The fragrance on the skin was there and I didn't feel I needed to add any other scent to myself.
Despite using this product more or less on a daily basis ( before bed once a day only ), and using probably far too much at each application, this product lasted a good amount of time. The 450ml sized jar is generous.
Would I buy this again? In a heartbeat. This is one of those products that has my name written all over it. It is one of those products that provides more and beyond the level of moisture my body needs. It makes my skin look healthy and feels smooth, its easy to use, rich and very much a pampering feeling product to use and smells divine. Another product thankfully that hasn't caused any issues with my skin except positive ones. Fantastic and hydrating ingredients thrown into one jar, all of which I love e.g shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, sweet almond oil......heaven!
On its own this product is priced at £18.00 for the 450ml jar which to be honest I still think is great value as the jar is pretty big and the quality is obviously there. You can buy this direct from SBC ( sbcgels.co.uk ) or QVC!
