Advantages: Worked for me
Disadvantages: Expensive
I am a trainer girl through and through; you will never see me in anything other than trainers, trainers are my best friend (apart from my hubby!). However, one day a little while a go I was asked to be a bridesmaid and although I told the bride that my shoes would need to be quite a small heel, she felt I could manage and came back with something that made my jaw drop. I think they were around a three inch stiletto! I have awful trouble with spraining my ankles so to say I was a little worried about walking in these was an understatement!
Although the shoes were my size, when I tried them my foot slipped to the front of the shoe crushing my toes because of the height. So now I not only had to contend with a stiletto which was very high, but a shoe hat was 'slopping' off my foot. I was so sure I was going to break my ankle as I walked down the aisle! Well my friend saw my distress and gave me a packet of these and I can't tell you how greatful I was.
They have a sticky back which can be used time and time again without loosing it's stick and are made of silicone. They are clear in colour, rather floppy and put me in the mind of those fake boob implants that you can pop in your bra except they aren't quite as thick because that would just be silly! The shield is designed to cushion your heel and think it's suppose to stop any discomfort if you are on your feet for a long time but I used them a little differently.
When I put them in my shoe I put them half where my sole was suppose to be and half up the back of the shoe where my heel would be. The shield gripped my sole so it stopped it from slipping down the shoe but it also cushioned the heel that was digging in slightly. Now the results weren't perfect and throughout the day my shoe did 'slop' off a little but it wasn't have as bad as it was without the shield.
As far as comfort goes I think these shields made a difference. I didn't have to take my shoes off and rest my feet at all throughout the day and evening which I thought was a miracle. My sole stayed cushioned and because I lapped the shield over the top of the shoe, there was no rubbing.
It didn't fit the shoe perfectly but this wasn't a problem because it was clear and it didn't matter too much because my dress hit the floor anyway.
I was shocked to see that these cost around £7 in Boots and I'm not sure if I would be willing to pay that. Having said that they are reusable and they did save the day so maybe I would.
These worked for me and I think I would suggest that you try to borrow them first before actually making a purchase.
Summary: Ideal for all you party girls
