Advantages: Very comfortable, easy to inset and stay put once in your shoe. Also washable.
Disadvantages: Can't really think of any.
You may have seen these, in Boots, your local Supermarket, even fashion chains like River Island or Topshop. They are basicly an updated shoe insole...with a difference.
Party feet are sold in pretty purple packets with a cartoon/sketched heeled shoe on the front, because this is what they are for- uncomfortable to awkward shoes. The price for them varies from £2.99 on Amazon to £9.50 in some shoe menders, Average normal price in Boots at the moment is £4.79, so shop around- your likely to find it on offer somewhere around summer time.
On opening the pack, you can see the inserts are ball-of-your-foot shaped- they do not cover the whole of your foot as they are designed to cushion the ball of your foot which carries the pressure as oppose to the entire foot. Thus they do not make your too small feet fit larger shoes the way a fabric insole do, that's not their job.
The inserts come stuck to a piece of transparent plastic, they are sticky on one side and smooth on the other. I suppose they feel a little like a much thinner, smaller version of a gel-bra insert! They are made from silicon which is why they are so squishy and able to return back to their original shape after being used.
The idea is to simply peel off the insert and stick it straight down into your so the sticky part faces down. If they are put down in a way that doesn't work for you, you can peel them back up and re stick them.
If you feel they have lost their stickiness (they can stick to dust and dried skin as well as bottom of shoe insole!) they just rinse under a tap -rub to get the dust and dirt off and leave to dry in the air, then when dry, re-stick down. I think that's a genius part as it means you can use and reuse and recycle your party feet insoles. Its also great if some verruca fiend of a "friend" (or sibling) decides to borrow your shoes with party feet in. (Although they wont protect all of the insides of your shoe). Just unpeel, rinse- you can even rinse with soap and they will be fine, and dry. Simple as.
Another thing these insets do is to stop your feet slipping about in your shoes-great for open toed sandals where your toes can sometimes slide out a little too far and not look so great- or worse, slide around unevenly and look like one foot is bigger then the other!
I have one pair of these in my heeled shoes. As I don't wear heels a lot I generally don't have a problem with my shoes, they get their rest. But I thought I would get me a pair anyway as my feet were slipping. I managed to solve that problem- I bought the insets for my shoes back in October and they are still going strong- even if I wear tights. And they also make things far more comfortable- I hadn't really experienced any pain in the first place, but now I feel its even nicer to walk in my shoes!
Summary: Buy these, you will find a use for them I promise!
