Advantages: Right size for little mouths, last longer than some
Disadvantages: Not really suitable as a baby's first toothbrush
If you are ever in the bathroom at my house and hear my daughter shout "Pooh on the brush!", don't worry, it's not what you think! For most of the time I have been cleaning her teeth, I have used Sensodyne children's toothbrushes. They are just the right size, weight and brush 'hardness' for small and delicate mouths. They come in several colours with different cartoon characters on them. My daughter's favourite is Winnie the Pooh series, which explain the comment at the start of this opinion! There are four different designs, featuring Pooh, Piglet and Tigger. Anything that helps with teeth cleaning is great, and a colourful brush with a picture of Winnie the Pooh on it does it for my daughter! Another good thing about these brushes is that they last for a while. My daughter has a habit of biting down onto the brush, particularly if she doesn't want her teeth cleaned. This bends the bristles down. I have brought two other makes of toothbrush, but found that they didn't last more than two weeks of this sort of treatment. The Sensodyne brushes have lasted much better. I took her to the dentist for the first time last month. He said her teeth looked healthy and clean, and asked what I used to clean them. I mentioned the Sensodyne brushes, and he agreed that they are an excellent make, so I will continue using them. I've noticed on the picture that is with this section it says that the toothbrushes are for 3+ yrs. It doesn't actually say this on the carton, (I've just checked!). My daughter is now 2yrs old, and I have been using them for about six months without any problem. I don't think they would be suitable as a baby's first toothbrush, there are softer ones available when there is more gum than tooth, but once the the child has a few teeth, these brushes are excellent.
