Advantages: Clean way to remove hair and exfoliate at the same time
Disadvantages: None
I use Silkymit hair removing gloves all the time and they are a great way of removing leg hair fast. The big bonus is, they are a wonderful exfoliator too, so the hairs are less likely to become ingrowing as they grow back. Silkymit gloves come in packs of three and are available from most drugstore/chemists. I usually buy mine in Savers or Superdrug, the price is about £1.60 for a packet, which lasts for an amazingly long time.
I use the gloves after I have used an epilator on my legs - I can then get rid of hairs that I have missed and exfoliate at the same time. (Exfoliation is a must if you are epilating or waxing, otherwise hair regrowth is restricted, resulting in those horrible ingrowing hair lumps and bumps.) The silkymit fits easily over the hand and the instructions suggest using a circular motion to rub away hair. I actually just rub in an up and down motion, which works fine for me. I find it only takes about five minutes to do both legs, but this is, admittedly, after I have already epilated, which takes about fifteen minutes. If I am using the silkymit on its own, between weekly epilation, I can do both legs easily in ten minutes. I use a body cream afterwards and my skin feels really soft and silky.
Silkymits are great for travelling, they weigh nothing and take up no space whatsoever. The only thing is, if you are needing something for underarms or bikini line too, then I don't think they are really suitable - at least, I have never tried them on more sensitive areas, you may find it works for you. The big advantage is that they are used on dry skin and the resulting fine hair and dust (your dry skin!) is easily brushed away - good for carrying in a handbag, maybe, for if you have forgotten to de fuzz. This product hasbeen round for donkey's years, my mum told me about it when I was young, so it is at lest thirty five years old. I used some that contained aloe vera a couple of years ago and these were lovely, but I haven't been able to find any since then - I would choose those in preference to the standard Silkymit. All in all, I think these are great, I always have a packet in my travel washbag and wouldn't travel without them. I would recommend trying them out, if only for the ease of exfoliation, which is quick and clean. They look just like wet and dry paper (my daughter refused to 'sandpaper' her legs!) but don't be put off by this, they are cheap and they work.
Summary: A cheap and effective way to remove hair that leaves the skin feeling silky smooth
