Advantages: Very few

Disadvantages: Expensive and doesnt really work

I've mentioned on here before my seemingly life long problems with ingrown hairs on my legs and my battle to conquer them before I get desperate and resort to sandpaper or worse.....

I've tried every solution going including this one, Skin Doctors Ingrow Go Lotion. It's produced by an Australian owned company based in Sydney.

The marketing blurb states that the product is designed for ingrown hairs, razor bumps and razor burns. It goes to say it's an amazing lotion that doesnt just eliminate these problems but can also prevent them from occuring if used after hair removal.

Well I was taken in by the hype and handed over the best part of £10 for a 120ml bottle. Now that's a lot of money to me and I was expecting big things from this product, unfortunately I was left feeling rather cold.

The product is sold in plastic bottles with a silver screw top cap. The bottle simply states the name of the product on the front and details of the manufacturer on the back. Alarmingly the bottle also states that the contents are flammable which I found a little disconcerting, what the hell is in this stuff?! whatever you do don't use this and smoke at the same time!

The solution is a clear watery liquid which smells very much like vodka but I doubt it would taste as good. To apply it I doused a cotton pad in the solution and wiped it over my legs, it tingled slightly and gave me goosebumps as it dried. I was rather alarmed at the colour of the cotton pad afterwards, seeing as I had a shower that morning you would think I would be pretty clean but the pad came away almost black - is it the solution doing that or my skin.....?

I went to bed dreaming of smooth legs but awoke to find very little difference. A few of the hairs had popped out but most of them were still firmly stuck under the skin. I tried again every day for the rest of the week but again saw little improvement. What a waste of money.

I'm not going to buy this again considering the cost of it and the rather sad results. I'm going to stick to scrubbing with a loofah and some fake tan to cover up the worst bits.

Summary: Stick to body scrubs in the shower instead

It sounds as though it has alcohol in it - perhaps you should just douse yourself in vodka! :)
