I'm a massive fan of the brand Soap & Glory. Started in 2006 with the aim of helping women pamper themselves without 'spending an arm and a leg just to moisturise one', the retro pink and black & white bottles and packages are a familiar fixture on the shelves of Boots and Harvey Nichols. They're also available online from retailers like ASOS. The stated aim may not be completely accurate, as the products are often more expensive than brands like Dove or Radox, but most of them are high quality.
I obtained a tub of this Big Butter Blueberry Thrill from eBay. I had wanted to try it for ages, but it seemed to be discontinued everywhere. It comes in the blue packaging of the now-discontinued Soap & Glory Spa range.
The 300ml tub is sturdy and secure. The label describes the body butter as a '5-star formula' with cocoa butter to moisturise. It also contains shea butter, sweet almond oil, fruit acid smoothers and blueberry oil. Inside the tub, the body butter is a pale blue colour and has a smooth, very thick texture.
The product is a dream to apply. It is thick and luxurious and it is easy to scoop some out and smooth it over my skin. Like other Soap & Glory body butters I've tried, it isn't at all greasy, even though it is incredibly rich and moisturising. The effect lasts all day or all night - I normally apply this after my evening shower but sometimes use it in the morning too.
I also love the scent of the product. It smells like more like blueberry pie than actual blueberries, but I think this is a good thing. The extra hint of sugary sweetness has a warming and comforting effect - like real fruit pie but without the calories! The scent of the product lasts on my skin right up until the next morning.
I love this product and I don't have a single bad thing to say about it. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get hold of now but it still pops up occasionally on eBay. Hopefully Soap & Glory will see fit to bring it back at some point, as it really is lovely!
I am a big fan of the Soap and Glory range, I love the retro design to the packaging and the products are always to a high quality and good value for money, plus often in Boots the range is subject to sort sort of offer or other.
I love the moisturising effect of this body butter which leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft to the touch with a nice healthy glow to it. It also helps to remove any dead skin cells from my skin so leaving it fresh looking and in a lot better state than before I used it. It is not an exfoliator though instead the acids in the cream remove the dead skin cells with very little scrubbing required.
It contains Shea Butter, Almond Oil and Blueberry Oil and it has a nice fruity aroma from the blueberries in it. It makes all sorts of claims on the cute packaging such as the ability to improve blood flow and to slow down the effects of aging, none of which I really believe for a minute however it does mositurise my skin really well and this is the main reason that I use it and when my skin looks fresh and well mositurised I look younger as well.
It retails for around the £9 mark for a 300ml tub however it is usually possible to buy it as part of a promotion which reduces the cost. It has a nice thick consistency and absorbs into my skin easily so it is great to use even when I'm in a rush. It does have a fruity aroma and you can detect the smell on your skin even after a couple of hours after first applying it but it is not an over powering smell.
This is another quality Soap and Glory product and one that I would certainly recommend.
I am a massive fan of all of Soap & Glory's scrumptious creations. After running out of my beloved The Righteous Butter (Shock, Horror!) as I was preparing for a girls night out, I sent my poor boyfriend on a quest to buy me a new one while I continued working on my hair.
Not understanding why I couldn't use one of the other moisturisers in my HUGE collection, I explained that none of the others smelt as delicious or made my skin feel as soft. He left the apartment looking for the Soap & Glory Body Butter, still with a puzzled expression on his face.
In his defence, a Soap & Glory Body Butter is exactly what he returned with. It just wasn't the one that I wanted. Instead he presented me with the Big Butter Blueberry Thrill. Yes, it comes in exactly the same size tub as the Righteous Butter but this is quite clearly blue, and not pink. Gold star for effort though.
What does it do?
The purpose of the Big Butter Blueberry Thrill is to give the skin an intense and deep moisturisation which promises to leave your skin as smooth as silk and smelling simply delicious. What makes this product arguably more special than the Righteous Butter, is that it promises to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your body using fruit acids which will leave it glowing with health and looking radiant.
How does it work?
The product contains Shea Butter which has been used to hydrate people's skin for centuries and it is one of nature's greatest moisturisers. The natural substance melts into the skin and nourishes it with vitamins while forming a protective barrier over the skin to help it retain moisture. As the substance is nut based, sadly this product won't be suitable for those suffering with nut allergies.
Swirled into the mixture is Almond Oil which nourishes and softens the skin and gives it a lovely moisturisation. It is absorbed quickly by the skin and helps to heal and repair skin that has become dry and flaky. It increases the blood circulation and it contains vitamins that improve the overall health of the skin.
Also included is Blueberry Oil which helps to rejuvenate the skin while nourishing and moisturising even the driest of skins. The oil has a fantastic ability to prevent premature aging as it is rich in antioxidants and because it is packed with vitamins and fatty acids, it helps healthy skin cells to develop.
The product also contains what Soap & Glory refer to as Fruit acid smoothers. The concoction is a mixture of natural acids from five different types of fruit and they perform a chemical reaction to slough off the dead skin cells that were resting on your body and dulling your skin. This means that your skin will be bursting with radiance and it will feel as smooth as velvet.
Packaging and Price
The packaging is exactly the same as the Righteous Butter except this time, the circular tub is a baby blue colour. It has a screw top lid to access the product and the packaging is convenient although it can be messy to use the product if you have long nails.
The price of the product is around £9 for 300ml which is a fair amount of body butter and should last you ages, even with daily use. It is available to buy from Boots and the store frequently sells Soap & Glory products on its 3 for 2 offer, so I wait for that and then stock up.
The disappointment of being given the wrong product didn't last long. One sniff of this was enough to momentarily forget about The Righteous butter and I was slapping this on seconds later. The butter smells like a fruit cocktail and is outrageously sweet. It smells a little artificial and sugary but I love it none the less.
The butter itself is gloriously thick and extremely luxurious. It has a lilac tinge to it and when massaged into the skin, it sinks in fairly quickly. It leaves no greasy or sticky residue on the skin, only a healthy sheen.
This butter leaves my skin so soft after one use that it's hard to believe. It really does make a massive different to the texture of your skin and when rubbed onto flaky skin, the skin becomes flawless and soft again.
It so rich and nourishing that I often use it after being in the sun as it really feels like its replenishing my skin and as it is rich in antioxidants then it should be helping to repair any damage caused by those horrible UV rays too.
I bought one of the mini butters for travelling purpose ages ago and I reuse that container for taking this product out in my handbag for reapplication during the night and to use as a hand cream.
Not because my skin starts to feel dry though but because it smells so yummy and it's like wearing a fresh and fruity perfume. It's incredibly girly so you won't have to worry about the men in the house pinching it on the sly. You'll soon sniff them out if they do!
As promised in the name, this really is a thrill to use. As well as the gorgeous aroma, it softens and moisturises my skin to the extreme with each use and keeps it that way. Would I replace The Righteous Butter with this product? No, I'll take them both!!
I recieved this as part of a body butter set for my birthday last year. It is part of the Soap & Glory spa collection. It comes in a blue container which contains 300ml of product. It costs £9 for the pot but if you keep a lookout in Boots there is normally a 3 for 2 offer on.
The butter promises to smooth off dead skin cells as well as moisturise and tone. It has cocoa butter built in and fruit acid smoothers. When you open the container the first thing you notice is the distinct smell of blueberry, it reminds me of a jam like smell, if you've ever used Soap & Glory 'Jam Session' it smells like that. The product is solid in the tub and has a purpley blue colour.
I noticed that you only need a small amount as it is very rich and spreads quite far. It has a very creamy consistency and rubs in really well. The cream says that is contains anti oxidants and will tone your skin as well. After a couple of days use I noticed my skin felt more toned and softer and smoother. The smell lasts all day and even at the end of the day my skin felt soft and smooth.
I would definately recommend trying this, I think it made a huge difference to my skin, my knees and elbows which are normally very dry in the winter. This is more expensive that other moisturisers but it is worth it for the little bit of luxury. The pot also lasts a reasonable time, I managed to get two months use out of mine!
I bought this from boots for £6 on special offer one day but they are usually £9! I never smelt it in the shop I just bought it simply because of the packaging and I love soap & glory!
Packaging- Love it, it reminds me of an american style baking kit and looks really retro and american, the blue is a georgeous colour. It comes in a big tub and the you twist the cover off to come to a plastic sheet which you can take off and replace when you use the body butter to keep it all moist :/
Applying- Very easy to apply, the body butter is quite thick and looks pretty solid but soon turns into a smooth butter as it comes into contact with your skin. You dont need to rub it in to make it stay! Its a purplish/bluey colour to me, its the same colour as blueberrys only lighter and it smells like a dream!! To me it smells of freshly baked blueberry muffins mmmmmm! With a hint of citrus orange if you smell closer, when I was done applying I smelt like blueberry muffins even my sister thought I had baked some, but it turned out to be this!
Results Overall- Lovely smooth skin, even after a shower the next day the butter held and my skin still felt beautifully moisturised, its better than palmers cocoa butter which was my fave before this! I love the texture of it when it goes on, its like a lovely whipped dough (hard to describe) going on your skin! The smell is the best thing about this product though, I got so many comments about my perfume then had to tell them kindly its my body butter. I love it im truly a convert now I will be buying this again, thanks soap & glory!
Now I only begin using this product a few weeks after one of my friends told me that is was suppoosedly better than the Bodyshop Butter I usually use (which by the way is excellent) and I thought Id give it a go.
I had a voucher to spend in Boots anyway so I thought this would be the perfect thing to treat myself to.
This product is in the same design as the entire Soap&Glory range so it's not suprising that this moisturiser comes in an eye catching bright blue.
It comes in a 300ml tub which has a screw off top, which can be pretty difficult to shut again when you have moisturiser on your hands. The front also tell us that is cream is packed with anti oxidants and also contains Cocoa Butter all mixed up with the powerful scent of blueberrys.
As with all moisturisers you simply scoop(I hate that word!!) as much of the cream out of the tub as you need and then simply begin to rub into well wherever you like. Try to rub in using circular motion's as this helps to tighten the skin. This cream is very easy to rub in, sinks in quickly and easily and leaves you with amazing smelling skin!!
It actually smells good enough to eat! It does smell very fruity, now whether than smell is blueberry or not I havent a clue, because if Im honest I cant actually remember what blueberry's smell like. This smell lingers around on your skin after it has sunk in so people will be noticing how lovely you smell all day long.
What Does This Moisturiser Contain?:
This tub of Soap & Glory® Blueberry The Big Butter is formulated with a super-smoothing five-fruit mix that clears dead cells off your skin faster than you can say 'is that velcro on your elbows'?
(Yes! I Did Find That Information On The Boots Website!!)
Its probably worth buying just for the smell of it alone! I really liked this cream easy to apply and sunk in very quickly which was great for me because I usually apply it just before work. I cant think of anything that's bad about this product but Im still undecided as to whether it's better than the Bodyshop Body Butter! Recommended to anyone thats looking for a great smelling body lotion that doesnt irriate your skin. Maybe better of as a treat though and not for those on a budget.
You can get this product from any Boots store or online at boots.com for £9 for a 300ml tub and should you have an advantage card you can collect 36 points with this purchase.
I read about Soap & Glory Big Butter Blueberry in a magazine where they rated it 5 out of 5 when compared to other body butters on the market. So I thought I might spoil myself and give this product a go.
This is not your standard body butter. This body butter claims to also claims to clear "dead cells off your skin faster than you can say 'is that velcro on your elbows'?"
It comes in a a big blue 300ml tub, with attractive writing in the Soap & Glory style we are all used to.
This is a pale lavendar coloured thick but not solid, shea butter with sweet almond and blueberry oils along with fruit acid smoothers.
It has a lovely non geasy texture and smells simply divine!!
Just scoop out a dollop or two of Soap & Glory Big Butter Blueberryand rub in to your skin. Simple as that!!
===Cost and where to buy ===
This is currently retailing for £6.75 at Boots, but I actually paid £9.00 for it!!
I found it actually quite hard to find. It wasn't in any of the smaller type Boots, and I eventually found it in their larger store on Oxford St.
At £9.00 it's a bit on the expensive side, but so far it's lasting a long time so I think in the end it wil be good value for money.
I love this product!! The blueberry scent, although initially a bit hard to get used to, lasts all day. The product rubs in well but doesn't dry out or disappear during the day. There is no need to have to reapply in the afternoon or when you get home. And I feel like it is doing what it claims to by removing the dead cells!
If you want a body butter that's going to make you smell lovely and fruity all day I would recommend this product.
I was recently bought this from a friend and I love it.
Soap and Glory is a product that I have seen in Boots & they have a massive range and everything like moisturiser, lip Gloss, sun glow spray and Body Gloss, and plenty more.
Their packaging as well is fab, very eye catching and its made to look like it was sold back in the day.
The Body butter itself is easy to use, literally the same as any other, just put a lump in the palm of your hands and rub over your skin, the butter helps clear dead cells off the skin fast and it leaves your skin feeling not only soft, but smelling amazing, the fragrance of the fruit lasts all day and your skin is silky smooth all day as well.
I often get comments on how good it smells and it lasts all day, my skin feel fully moisturised as well and don't suffer from dryness. Its easy to apply, has a thick texture but rubs in fine.
You can get a 300ml tub for £9.50 - a little expensive for some maybe but worth a buy!
A five-fruit mix that clears dead cells and moisturies the skin leaving it smooth as butter /
