Advantages: smells lovely, makes my skin feel soft

I am the first to admit that I'm not the best at remembering to include a body scrub in my weekly routine. I tend to use my scrubs as and when I remember which is a shame as I know my skin could be a lot smoother if I remembered.
When I got a pot of flake away I made a promise to myself that I would use it at least once a week to see if it made my skin any smoother.

Packaged in a nice pink pot with a screw lid, this product is part of the well known Soap and Glory range.
I have since learnt that all Soap and Glory have similar fragrances attached to them. Whilst they vary slightly due to ingredients, they all have a sweet smell.
My pot of flake away looks like a raspberry smoothie that has been frozen and set. It is a nice deep pink in colour with plenty of dark grains running through it. It looks very inviting, but as I first placed my fingers into the pot to grab a small piece, the scrub is a thicker consistency than I thought it was going to be. It has the same consistency of just melting ice cream and it feels lovely as I lift some out of the pot.

The packaging directs you to apply to wet skin in circular motions to get rid of bumps on your skin. You are to massage in circular motions until most of the grains are gone and then rinse with water.
Ouch! The first time I used this, I think I must have massaged a bit too vigorously as my elbow and arm were quite sore from the grains. I made myself massage slower but I was still left with a stinging sensation after using this product for the first time.
My skin was also very red, but as smooth as a baby's bottom and smelt gorgeous. How I was going to decide if I liked this product or not I didn't know at this point.

I had kept an eye on my skin and saw the redness had faded very quickly. I have since learnt that if I use this regularly then my skin almost seems used to it and as long as I don't use too much or massage to vigorously then my skin doesn't hurt too much, just tingles a bit.
I know that the point of a body scrub is to remove all the dead skin cells from your body, and this product is a great way to do this, even if they are harsher than other body scrubs I have used in the past.

I would advise not to use too much of this as whilst the product suggests to keep massaging until most of the grains were gone, I found this took a long time so I had to reduce the amount I used to prevent me feeling as though I was giving myself a skin peel.
By not using a lot of the product on each use, I am realising that my pot will last me ages, which makes it better value for money. I got a 300ml pot and it would normally cost around £6.36. This is more expensive than some brands but on par with the Body Shop body scrubs.

I have decided that I can put up with the irritation because the product really does make my skin feel great and the redness only lasts minutes, not hours.
