Advantages: Works very well, decent price, nice packaging, lovely smell
Disadvantages: None for me at all
Well, I have finally tried one of the products from the Soap and Glory range and not before time I hear you say! When I went into Boots recently the whole range was on offer at 1/3 off the normal price and since I have read so many good reviews about Soap and Glory here on Dooyoo I decided to treat myself to the hand cream as it was something that I really needed. The full name of the product in question is Soap and Glory Hand Food.
The Cost
The tube containing 125ml of cream normally retails at £4.40 but with the 1/3 off this tube cost me just £2.93.
The Packaging
The tube is rosy pink in keeping with the rest of the Soap and Glory range and again, as is usual, has a slightly unusual name - in this case Hand Food instead of the more usual Hand Cream. The tube stands upright on the flip top lid meaning that the contents will always be near the end of the tube where they are to come out onto the hand.
The writing on the tube asks me if this is 'the most astonishing hand cream ever' and tells me that this is a 'non greasy hydrating hand cream with Shea butter macadamia oil and marshmallow'.
On the back of the tube is a full list of ingredients (and there are a lot!) together with the usual warnings not to get the product in your eyes, and to wash them immediately with warm water if you do.
How to use
This is pretty obvious really but the information on the tube advises us to 'Apply Hand Food Cream as often as you want to soften, smooth and soothe dry, chapped or otherwise hampered hands'.
My experience
Well, I know that I had read quite a few glowing reviews about this product but I did think that it would be just a hand cream, albeit a nice one! I have to admit that I was wrong.
I flipped open the lid and squeezed the tube. The cream came out into my hand in the form of a little tube shape. It was quite stiff compared to the usual hand creams that I use and I began to get a hint of the fragrance.
I rubbed my hands together and the small amount of cream that I had squeezed from the tube covered my hands and disappeared into my skin immediately leaving no trace of any greasy residue.
The warmth of my hands really released the smell of the hand cream as well and it is lovely. The only problem is that you are going to want me to describe it aren't you? I have terrible trouble trying to describe fragrances but I will do my best. It is light and fresh with an almost citrusy tang to it. Sorry that's the best I can do!
The effect
My hands instantly felt better - they were smoother and felt moisturised and just generally felt really nice and because they didn't feel at all greasy I was able to use this hand cream at any time of the day and still continue with my jobs.
My hands do get very dry and scratched as I am usually messing about in the garden, chopping wood for our log burner and carrying it about (and dropping it on my toe and breaking it but that's another story!) and also doing general housework. As you can see I thought that I would never have beautiful hands but having discovered this hand cream I really have noticed a dramatic improvement in the condition of my hands. They have become much smoother and softer with regular use of this product.
Conclusion
Well for £ 2.93 given the results derived from this product I believe that I got a bargain and I will be quite happy to pay full price for it as it is so good, although I will obviously be keeping my eye open for special offers!
I would actually go as far as to say that this is the best hand cream that I have ever used - now there's an accolade and thank you fellow Dooyooers for telling me about it and recommending it so highly.
Looking back at the tube I would say yes, it is an astonishing hand cream!
Summary: I am so glad I believed you all!
