Advantages: Gorgeous feminine smell, fun packaging, good staying power, moisturising, gentle on skin
Disadvantages: The price tag
Soap & Glory is undoubtedly one of the best new body care ranges to appear on our shelves in recent years - they have a great fun feel to the products, are reasonably priced, but more importantly, are fabulous quality and really make you feel like you are pampering yourself.
Mist You Madly is a body spray and the scent is a blend of bergamot, blackcurrant, magnolia, freesia, vanilla, and musk. Reading the ingredients I was already sold as nearly all of these are included in the signature Soap & Glory scent (found in The Righteous Butter) which is one of my favourite all time scents and the thought of smelling like that all day was very appealing! It's a body spray intended for use after you get out of the shower - after drying you simply spritz yourself with the spray which will leave your skin moisturised and smelling gorgeous.
The bottle is a bit more special than your average Impulse body spray can - it's a huge 250ml pink bottle and uses a nozzle spray rather than the more environmentally unfriendly aerosol so thumbs up on that count. Lose 2 environmental points though for the excess packaging - can someone tell me why we need to have a body spray packaged in a cardboard box?
As this is a nozzle spray rather than an aerosol, I was expecting that this would be more of a liquid body spray than others I've used and my suspicions were right - when you spray it onto the skin it comes out like a mist but does require just a quick stroke across the skin for it to be absorbed. Having said that, it is absorbed instantly on just touching the skin, so no real complaints from me there. It also doesn't leave any stains on clothing if you decide to give yourself a quick spritz later on in the day.
The smell is gorgeous. Although I was slightly disappointed at first that it isn't quite the Soap & Glory signature scent I was after (having had a quick sample spritz I think their other body spray, Flirtingo, fits this bill better) it is still a fabulously feminine scent - fruity but sweet with the vanilla, fruit and floral scents all blending nicely together. I find the scent nice and strong too and often don't wear perfume if I've applied this as I find myself getting lovely wafts of it through the day. Staying power (considering this is a body spray after all!) is really remarkably good and it does last all day, although a quick top up to keep the scent strong doesn't overpower things. I love this scent for summer especially - my summer perfume is Very Irresistable by Givenchy and it is a perfect partner for that as the florals compliment each other really well and just creates a lovely fresh feminine scent that is so refreshing. Obviously as it's not an anti-perspirant it's not going to stop you sweating but gives you a refreshing boost on a hot summer day.
It's also nice and moisturising on the skin which is a first for a body spray. Although you can use this over a body lotion (I've often layered it over The Righteous Butter), I prefer not to as it is absorbed better into the skin without having moisturised first. It's also nice and gentle on my skin - I often find with body sprays that if I use them on my legs after shaving they can sting and irritate the skin but that wasn't the case at all here.
The downside of this product for me is the price. Although I normally feel that Soap & Glory products are very reasonable, there's no denying that at £6 a bottle, this stuff is pretty pricey. Granted, the bottle is far bigger than other body sprays and it does feel very good quality, but I'm not sure it really warrants the massive price tag. That said, Soap & Glory seem to be almost permanently on offer in Boots so it's well worth stocking up then - I got this in a 1/3 off deal which made the price tag a bit more manageable. My only other problem is that I bought this intending to use it on my summer holiday to freshen me up (we are driving to Southern Italy!) but I love it so much I've used half of it already!
Summary: A lovely body spray

- 09/11/09 I've bought this and really like it. You probably already know that Miss Dior Cherie pretty much matches the signature scent of Soap & Glory - it's lovely! |
