Soap & Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub
Advantages: Really concentrated & invigorating, great packaging
Disadvantages: Smell isn't that great, quite expensive
I got this in the Soap&Glory gift set I received for Christmas. I love body scrubs and had been really impressed with the S&G Flake away scrub so couldn't wait to try this! It costs £8.00 for the 250ml bottle from Boots if you buy it on its own. I also noticed it is a foaming body scrub so is almost like a shower gel and body scrub in one.
Rather than being in a tub like most body scrubs, this one comes in a squeezy bottle a bit like a hand cream might do, in fact it looks very similar to the S&G Handfood bottle. It dispenses from the bottom of the bottle and has a flip lid, so the product is always easy to get out. The bottle is bright pink and has a big label on the front with "pulp Friction" written in bold bright lettering and various other details about the product printed on the front. The packaging is very busy but gets away with it, and looks quirky and cute.
Initially I thought the scrub might be quite watery and more like a shower gel with bits in it, but it is far from this. It is a very thick gel packed with tiny little scrublets which are barely visible but you can definitely tell they are there. The scrublets are very fine but scratchy, and you can really feel them exfoliating your skin while rubbing it in. The bottle says it contains pumice which would explain how this is so invigorating. I would go as far as saying this is the most invigorating scrub I have ever tried, it was literally like getting wet sand and rubbing it onto your skin. After using my skin had gone slightly red, but not in an inflamed way, more that it had got my circulation going well.
I also noticed how the scrub was foaming up while I was using it, and it did foam up well just like a shower gel would, however this seemed slightly pointless for me as I only use body scrub on my legs and arms, therefore I still had to use normal shower gel afterwards..
Only a small amount of the scrub is required each time as it spreads easily over the skin and the scrublets are so concentrated there are plenty to go round even in the smallest amount of the scrub. I've noticed you have to be careful to make sure it all washes off properly though, it has a tendency to stick to the skin which is good whilst working it in, but just means you have to make sure its all washed off afterwards.
I wasn't overly keen on the fragrance, I would describe it as a very artificial fizzy fruit smell, which wasn't natural at all and was slightly sickly. It is described as containing fig powder, peppermint oil, lemonade tree liquid, orange waterjuice and new Fruitigo fragrance. This all sounds very nice, but all together it didn't really work and whilst it wasn't a horrible smell, I wasn't that keen on it either.
After using it my skin felt really smooth because of how invigorating it was which was great. It didn't leave my skin feeling moisturised as there wasn't any moisturising ingredient in the scrub, but this didn't bother me as I like to apply body lotion afterwards anyway. The bottle is lasting really well as only a small amount is required with the scrub being so concentrated.
I would recommend this body scrub as it was very concentrated and is great for removing dry skin, smoothing the skin and getting your circulation going. All this I would say makes it worth the cost. However I wouldn't buy it as I didn't enjoy the smell enough and found the foaming action to be slightly pointless.
