Advantages: Smells great, easy to buy, easy to use, works great
Disadvantages: At full price it is £9 so it is expensive
Once again I find myself at the mercy of Soap and Glory products. I might have to get an extension on my bathroom at this rate. But it was a special offer.
Soap and Glory Products can be found on sale in places like Boots and within this range you can expect to find an array of products ranging from body butters, lip balms, lip gloss, body scrubs, body polish, hand cream and foot cream to name a few.
There are many products for almost everyone to try and the packaging itself makes it easy to spot within any Boots store. Tightly packaged within pink boxes, tubes and tubs the Soap & Glory products feature eye-catching product names, although they are not on par with those from Lush or more recently Bomb Cosmetics.
Many of the Soap and Glory products are mostly available in two sizes and are the perfect travel companions, whether you are going on holiday or away for a few days, these products fit perfectly into your beauty case or make-up bag, especially if you buy the smaller of the two sizes.
This time I was tempted by Soap & Glory spa sugar crush which arrives in a 300ml tub. Differing from the original pink packaging this tub features a bright blue, almost turquoise lid which you twist and turn to remove with a logo placed in the middle of the tub featuring the words "Sugar Crush Body Scrub". The reason I was tempted to buy it is because this product would usually retail for £9 which sounds quite expensive, however I bought it was £5.66 in a sale which to me made it irresistible and I didn't even hesitate when putting it into my basket. Admittedly I wasn't intending to buy this on my visit to Boots.
Soap & Glory Spa Sugar Crush is designed for those of us who suffer from dry skin on the body area and with its carefully selected ingredients it is designed to give you the ultimate spa treatment and leave your body feeling silky soft to the touch. You can either use it in the shower or in the bath, whichever you feel more comfortable with and it is suggested that you use it two or three times a week depending on the dryness of your skin and if you feel like using is more than that then you can.
Unscrewing the lid you will see inside that there is a treacle coloured looking cream inside and to feel it for the first time is a rather odd sensation because it contains macadamia grains and that therefore makes it quite harsh to the touch. Macadamia kernel gives a grainy textured feel to the cream to exfoliate dead skin..
Macadamia oil is also used in many beauty products because it's an emollient and is therefore great for dry skin. Combine that with almond oil and you're left with an effective and non greasy moisturiser. Sweet lime gives the product an uplifting tangy smell whilst at the same time it helps to tone and refresh the skin.
When I used this product for the first time I was expecting it to be quite sticky and hard to use, but this isn't the case, in fact it's really easy to use much like shower gel or any other creams you might use. I tend to use it all over my body because it isn't so harsh that it leaves me skin looking red from over zealous rubbing, The product itself is easy to apply and you only need a small amount at any one time on your sponge or flannel to apply to the body because it spreads really easily.
I patted my skin dry and was left a lovely almond smell with a trace of lime and the overall feeling of softness. I tend to get dry patches of skin on my shins and around my knees more than my arms or face and I was impressed that most of the dry skin had been removed. I would say the smell did linger for a day after using but as time goes on the smell does fade. The over riding smell is definitely the almond smell but there is a notable trace of lime.
So after using it I was suitably impressed and after 6 weeks of using it twice a week, only in the shower and not the bath I might add, I still have over half the tub left and it still smells as strong as it did from the first time I used it. With having the screw top lid I find that the air tight seal keeps the cream feeling fresh and smelling like new.
So I would recommend this to anyone wanting to swap your old trusty creams for something new and exciting. It's something I would definitely buy again without a doubt even if I had to pay £9 for the tub
