Advantages: Fragrance and ease of application
Disadvantages: expensive without being all that special
Unusually for me I'm a little behind in trying a new form of beauty cream, I do use body lotion but always imagined that body butter being that bit thicker would take longer to rub in and I'm not a fan of standing naked after a shower or bath shivering while trying to rub something all over. This was rectified when I received my little pot of body butter in a gift pack when I purchased other soap and glory products.
I'll be honest and admit that half the reason I buy soap and glory products is because of the cute names and packaging. Seeing the little pots around my bedroom or in the bathroom with their retro look and funny names always puts a smile on my face and most of their products I have found to work well with the one night tanned being the only disappointment to date.
- - How to use it - -
The packaging tells you to smooth onto damp skin and massage until it all sinks in after showering or bathing. I'm a little unsure about the damp skin, are you supposed to not dry yourself after the shower and begin applying? I didn't like the idea of not drying off so I did towel myself before applying hoping it wouldn't really make any difference.
Now to find out if body butter is as easy to apply as lotion. I scooped up a fair amount of the thick white cream in my fingers and began to massage on my arm first. The beautiful fragrance comes out immediately the makers claim it's a floral and fruity mix followed by musk, oakmoss, amber and woody notes but the only way I can described it is as very very sweet.
I can't detect muskiness or fruiteness but its still a very pleasant aroma.
Although thicker than body lotion it really wasn't any more difficult to spread and a little really did go quite a long way and soon disappeared into my skin although the fragrance remained. Every now and again throughout the day I would catch a whiff of it as I moved around.
My skin looked moisturised and felt soft the shea butter and aloe vera it contains certainly did what was required but the smell was definitely the best part.
- - Would I buy it again - -
Although I enjoyed trying it and am a big fan of the soap and glory range I didn't think it was exceptional, yes it was a good body moisturiser, yes it looks brilliant sitting on my bathroom shelf, but at around £9.99 for a 300ml tub I don't think it outperforms other much cheaper brands. If there is a special offer of 3 for 2 or another offer of buy something and get some minis then I would be happy to use it again but I wouldn't put it on my must buy as soon as it runs out list.
One to keep as a special treat or for use before a night out as the smell remains on the skin for hours .
Summary: Try it when its on offer

- 20/02/09 I have been swatting up on body moisterisers...and apparently just using natural olive oil is supposed to be the chemical-free way of replenishing the skin. Also, one glass of red wine a day is supposed to be anti ageing! Check this site out http://www.topantiagingti ps.com/red-wine.html |

- 16/02/09 I tried a tester of this product in Boots a few times on the super dry areas near my finger nails, and it didn't help where other creams would, so I decided not to buy it (despite all the hype from Gok Wan etc). |
