Advantages: Amazing smell, soft skin
Disadvantages: It's not cheap
I decided to treat myself to some Soap & Glory stuff a little while ago when it was on 3 for 2 PLUS a S&G gift bag, and this is one of the items I chose, simply because of the divine smell!
The Righteous Butter comes in a bright pink plastic tub, adorned, like all Soap & Glory products, with 'vintage' picture of a lady and various witty comments: "Lost that Rubbing Feeling?", "Butter yourself up!" and so on. It is available either in a large 300ml tub (£9.70 in Boots) or in a smaller, travel sized 50ml (£2). The travel size is a good option if you'd like to try the product before investing a tenner in it, but obviously the bigger pot makes more financial sense if you know you like it. Although it is a large pot and it does last a long time, I still think £10 is rather a lot to pay for a body lotion - but that might be my Yorkshire genes coming out, I know it's probably about average these days.
According to the pot, it should be used on damp skin after a bath or shower and massaged in until it's all sunk in. I'm very bad and don't often use body lotions (I'm sure I'll have the skin of an old crone by the time I'm 30 and it'll serve me right!), I only really use them to moisturise my legs after shaving (which admittedly isn't VERY often either!!).
When I first opened the pot, I was surprised at how thick the cream was in comparison to other body lotions I'd used and I had a feeling it was going to be one of those that spread across your skin rather than sinking in, but I was pleased to find that it was easy to rub in and didn't leave my skin feeling tacky for a long time after, so I could get dressed five minutes later without my clothes sticking to me.
The Righteous Butter makes my skin feel young and plump and soft and smooth, and the soft smooth feel remains until I get into bed at night (indeed until I wash it off in the shower the next morning) - with some body lotions I notice that my legs in particular start to feel dry again by the evening, but none of that here.
The best thing though about this body butter is the divine smell!! It is a light, sweet fragrance - you can almost smell the sugar - and very girly but without being cloying. One reviewer on here says the smell reminded her of an old woman but I can't see that at all - I think it's young and fresh. It also lingers, which is great as throughout the day I keep getting whiffs and it's delicious!
The only thing I can fault it for is the fact it comes in a tub and so can end up getting under your nails during the application process, though I guess it might be quite hard to squeeze something so thick out of a tube. Otherwise, it's absolutely fab and I'll definitely be buying it again.
Summary: This has become my Body Butter of choice!

- 24/06/09 I'm scraping the bottom of my tub at the mo and I know that means I'll have to get some more even though I've got loads of other body butters to use. |
