Advantages: smells yummy, moisturising, long lasting scent
Disadvantages: a little on the expensive side - although it does last a long time
As you may have guessed from the amount of reviews I write in the Fashion and Beauty category, I own a lot of beauty products! It's a little bit like an obsession with me, and unfortunately it does mean in a lot of cases I will buy something, but as I have so many similar products it will take me months to get round to using it. Soap and Glory's The Righteous Butter is one such product, but finally a couple of weeks ago I got round to trying this wondrous little product which I had read so many glowing Dooyoo reviews about!
The product comes in a round pink tub which has a black and white 50's style photo on the lid, giving this a very retro feel. I have the smaller, travel sized tub which is a little plainer, but overall I do think that the packaging is a big pull for this brand, as it looks cool, and is something you can feel proud to display on your dressing table.
The Righteous Butter contains Shea butter and Aloe Vera to soften the skin and it has what I would describe as Soap and Glory's 'signature scent'. If you're not familiar with the Soap and Glory range, I would describe this scent as being very light, very feminine and girly, and also quite 'young' by which I mean, it's fun and flirty rather than being grown up and sophisticated. Although I do think it will especially appeal to younger girls/women, there's no harm in being fun and flirty whatever your age!
It contains mandarin and has a slightly fruity scent, that almost reminds me of strawberries, even though I don't think it actually contains any!
The butter itself is quite thick and I've found that you can get away with using a fairly small amount to cover a large area of skin, which makes this product economical. Despite only having the small, travel sized tub, which at 50ml, is one fifth of the size of the full tub, I've been using it most days over the course of two weeks and still have around half left.
The body butter sinks into the skin fairly quickly after application, so there is not too much waiting around for it to dry before getting dressed - I would say it takes a minute to sink in at absolute maximum.
The scent of this product is quite strong when applied and it is the sort of body butter that you can smell on your skin for hours after application. You could probably get away without applying a perfume after applying this, or Soap and Glory have just launched a perfume in this scent (so so excited!) so you could always layer the scent with that or with one of the Soap and Glory body sprays.
Having quite dry skin I need a fairly strong moisturiser and this one does the job very well. It keeps my skin hydrated and feeling lovely and soft. It's not greasy either which is a real plus point as I often find that body butters leave a greasier feeling on the skin than a standard body lotion would.
A 250ml tub of this costs £9.79 from Boots. Fair enough this is not the cheapest of products, however as mentioned above it lasts a really long time as you only need a small amount per use. The travel sized version is just £2.25 but ml for ml the larger size works out better value.
Overall I have been very impressed by this. It smells absolutely divine, it's a real pick-me-up scent and leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft. It is slightly on the pricey side, but I would definitely buy it again as a treat and I would definitely recommend giving it a try.
Summary: Fantastic product
