I love the way it's so hard and compacted together that it doesn't dissolve into a sloppy mess. Ironically, the cheaper the soap the better I find it to be. What I mean by this is that you get something like Lush soap and it can be really soft and break up easily. On the other side of the fence, you get Tesco's own or the like for around 3p a bar and it lasts forever. 3) I like the...more

Premium Review Soap in General: Soupy Soap (837 words)

Can you imagine living without soap for a considerable length of time, say, three months? No soap would also mean no shampoo, no washing-powder, no detergent. Impossible? Of course, it isn't, but it wouldn't be life as we know it and think it should be and yet, soap and its siblings have been used in normal people's households only a bit longer than a century. Archaeologists have found soap-like material when working on excavation sites of ancient Babylon which date back to 2800 BC, from inscriptions they've learnt that fat was boiled and mixed with ashes which is the basic recipe for making soap but they couldn't find proof that the substance was used for ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Cussons Range Suits Sensitive Skin (418 words)

PZ Cussons make a whole range of soaps designed to suit the whole family. I have tried many of these but always come back to their original Imperial Leather bar of soap with the gold, red and white label. Imperial leather products are well known and available all over the world. Joy beauty Soap is a perfumed variety made by Cussons for the West African market. It is marketed as a complete beauty treatment for the skin and claims to leave it soft and smooth. I haven't tried this variety because it is only available in West Africa but I am told that it resembles the Cussons Pearl bar which I have tried. The Carex range of antibacterial soaps and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Soap in General: I've washed my hands of soap! (279 words)

I am not a fan of soap at all. When I was living at home my mum designated us all a flannel and we'd have to use Lux soap morning and night to wash our faces. It smelt awful and the affects were horrible too. I've tried soaps since then and whilst they seem to have been made with a lot better fragrance these days, they are still horrible to use. First off you really have to work them and add water before you get a lather. I can't be bothered with that, I don't have a lot of time as I have two boys to sort out as well as myself in the mornings. The last thing I want to do is be working up a lather. Secondly, they sting real bad when they get in your ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Soap without the rope (264 words)

My wife hates soap, but I quite like it. To me, it's an essential part of the cleaning process. A lot of people wash with shower gel these days, but I am a soap man for many reasons: 1) It's hard and tangible I need to take hold of something and use it in its solid shape. I rub the soap inbetween my palms to get a good lather, I rub the soap over my arms to wash them- I USE the soap itself. With gel, it all dissolves and drips into nothing which really drives me mad. 2) It's long lasting Soap lasts for ages!
