Advantages: Smells gorgeous

Disadvantages: A little expensive for every day.

My hairdresser recommended to me a range of toiletries I had not seen before in Superdrug. Nestled in amongst the other more common varieties was a sunny blend of brightly coloured items, many of them with packaging depicting tropical scenes, ladies with flowers in their hair, and bowls of tropical fruits. Called The Spa Paradisa range they looked really pretty and certainly something I fancied buying.

I decided to purchase the shower cream first, but have been so delighted I also went on to purchase the body cream too at a later date.

The shower cream is free from parabens and contains coconut and frangipani, and has Aloe Vera and Monoi de Tahiti which is a beautiful oil. I recognised this ingredient as it is the main constituent in a lovely natural bath oil I reviewed recently, made by Marks and Spencer. It is a combination of pure gardenia blossoms from Tahiti and coconut extract, and it has soothing and purifying properties.

The inclusion of Aloe Vera adds to the soothing nature of this body wash, and if you have any kind of sensitive skin this could well be one to try.

Coconut extract is added as it is a natural moisturiser.

I paid around £4.50 for this, which is normally more than I would pay for a shower gel, but it sounded exotic, and I adore anything which has a coconut aroma. They have some of the range on the Superdrug website at web only prices, and here they have some of the other fragrances in the range, as well as the other toiletries available. If you do use Superdrug remember to use a cash back site like Topcashback as they give 9% back on purchases.

The shower cream is luxury. It has a flip top lid which makes dispensing it easy and straightforward, and as soon as you open it the scent of summer holidays wafts round . It smells like the most exotic cocktail, a mixture of coconut and pineapples and has an almond aroma too, and it is creamy and milky and lathers up so well. It is so moisturising that I hardly need to use any lotion afterwards, but I do sometimes with the matching body butter which is heaven too. Everything about the packaging is colourful and summery, and the contents don't let expectations down at all.

I noticed today that Debenhams also stock this range, and they have a much wider selection of products which you can order online. They do seem to be a lot more expensive than Superdrug, and are currently charging £5 for this product.

Also available in the range is a bath soak, body butter, hand and nail cream, and there is even a candle you can buy to fill the bathroom with the same scent as you bath in luxury! I have my eye on that for sure!

The company who make this have a lovely website at www.spaparadisa.com. Here it explains that the fragrance I had chosen, the frangipani and coconut, is part of "The Renew Your Skin" range which is all about replenishing oils, and moisturising, so that is perfect for my skin, which although normal is not in the flush of youth!

They also do an exotic ylang ylang and jasmine fragrance which is what they describe as their "Indulgence" range. Their water melon and pink grapefruit range is all about "Revival"- so perfect for mornings, I would imagine especially good in the winter when emerging from the bed covers is hard!

The final collection called "Love Your Skin" is intended to make you smell like an island princess, and it has passion fruit and fair trade shea butter.

This is a mid price shower gel which is certainly in a price range I wouldn't normally pay for every day use, but it isn't extortionate and I really like the fact that it contains no parabens. I am going on holiday next month and this is certainly going to share my toiletries bag with some other holiday treats, and when I return I can see myself buying it whenever I want a taste of the exotic. I think this shower gel is the perfect winter pick up for dark, dreary November days.

The scent actually lasts on the skin long after you have showered, and you can extend this to all day if you add in the body butter.

I am so glad my hairdresser recommended this to me because it really is a breath of fresh air in my bathroom, and a lovely summer scent on my skin.

I know you can pick up cheaper coconut based shower gels, but this is something a bit more special, as the perfume is made from layers of ingredients which mingle together to create a fragrance, which wouldn't be out of place in an expensive French perfume.

Summary: A treat which is as moisturising as any shower cream I have ever tried.
