great for all skin types. non greasy.

Having bought this product when on offer I thought it was worth a try. Boy am I glad! I have always struggled to find a moisturizer to use all over my body as some can leave my skin feeling very greasy but this moisturizer is perfect for anywhere. It leaves your skin feeling very silky and soft, which can never be a bad thing! Unlike similar products that can be runny, this moisturizer has a thicker texture so you only need to apply a few small blobs to cover the area you are wanting to use it on. i can do one leg with 2 or 3 pea sized blobs! they are also quite large containers and the shape of which makes it easier to apply as you are not having to scoop out any cream, you can just squeeze it directly on to your body! For a treat I use slighlty more then needed and massage into my face and leave for ten minutes to give me a real moisture boost, normally before bedtime, then just wipe away any excess! A great product.

As always, my sister the skin-care guru was the one who introduced me to yet another terrific product of the St Ives skin care range. My skin is prone to dryness, especially in cold weather and I constantly have to stock up on the moisturizers. This one first caught my eye because it claims to retain moisture all day- something that I found to be sadly untrue during the two weeks that I have been using this product. It is, however, one of the best and most affordable moisturizers I ever used, even if one application does NOT by any means protect my skin all day.

This product claims to use a distinctive Swiss Formula to whip up the body lotion, and states that "Exclusive HydrateinTM Protein Complex not only replenishes but also retains moisture all day. Apply to skin once in the morning and experience visibly healthier skin 24 hours and beyond." It also claims to be hypo-allergenic and dermatologist tested.

I was personally attracted by the hypo-allergenic part and I have to say that it is one of the rare products that really do appear to be a genuinely hypo-allergenic one. My skin is usually prone to breakouts or rashes, but during the two weeks that I've been using this lotion, there wasn't a single rash over my face. I have to say that I was really left with smoother skin all day (as claimed in the indications), but that was only after around two or three applications per day. Now, like I mentioned above, I have really dry skin so I think that people with normal skin will need just about two applications per day. In fact, for me, one application of St Ives lotion lasted for approximately three hours, after which it started feeling extremely dry again.

While the lotion bottle isn't overly original or elegant, the smell makes up for any lack of decorum for this product. Like every St Ives product, this one smells divine. I was met by an unfamiliar but subtle and pleasant whiff out as soon as I opened the bottle. In addition, this lotion spreads very well and gets really soaked up under the pores for a genuinely softer skin.

Overall, I would quite highly recommend this product, especially for the awful cold days. Do not expect one application to last 24 hours as claimed on the bottle, but other than that, I personally believe that this lotion lived up to the rest of its statements and claims.

      Available at Superdrug for £4.29

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

One of the best on the market at a fraction of the price.

Being a person who suffers from bouts of dry skin every so often (caused as an effect of Ezcema) finding a lotion that really does maintain moisture at a cheap enough cost is often hard to do.

Having been on prescription stuff before and then subsequently being in employment it was time to venture out and buy some stuff on my own, alternatives such as Aveeno work well but at around £5 per bottle are way to expensive and don't give you alot of lotion for your pound.

St Ives, 400ml for less than £2 in local supermarkets really meets all my criteria, applying it before work in the morning i find im nicely moisturised all day and well into the evening, unlike other lotions it's not overly greasy so you don't look like a bad Jermaine Jackson impressionist! With a soft fragrance it's almost unnoticeable (im told by the gf that it has a hint of coconut in it).

Some moisturisers can sometimes be rather hard to spread (nivea for example seems quite thick) whereas St Ives is easily applied and being so good at what it does you dont need to spend much time making sure you've put plenty on.

I really can't fault anything about this product, cheap in cost, 400ml is enough to last me (who uses a moderate amount daily) easily a month at a time, Easy to apply without taking ages to spread, an almost unnoticable scent make this one for the guys as well as he girls.

A lovely body lotion which leaves skin feeling soft and smooth

I always like trying out new body lotions and moisturisers. The most recent one I have tried is the St Ives Swiss Formula 24hour moisture body lotion. The body lotion is made by St Ives and is designed to give healthy looking soft smooth skin and is made specifically for dry skin.

The lotion is hypo-allergenic and contains more than 90% of naturally derived ingredients. It contains something called hydratein which I had never heard of before but is said to replenish and retain moisture. It has been dermatologically tested and clinically proven to help maintain moisture for 24 hours.

The lotion comes in a large white plastic bottle and holds 400ml. The bottle has a flip top cap and you can easily dispense the lotion. The instructions are simply to smooth onto your skin and ensure you apply to the areas of dry skin.

The lotion itself is white and thick and creamy. I am pleasantly surprised as the product is described as a lotion I was expecting it to be much thinner. It has a nice fresh smell but isn't too strong. It absorbs quickly into my skin and is not greasy which is great if you want to use it and then get dressed straight away. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and almost with an invisible protective barrier. My skin feels soothed and lovely and soft after using it. I'm not sure about the 24 hour moisture claim my skin does feel soft for quite a while after using it but I can't really say I still notice it working 24 hours later.

St. Ives say that 94% of women who've tried this lotion love it and I would certainly say I was in that percentage. It's a really nice body lotion and leaves my skin feeling great. Its also really nice to use as a hand cream as well as a body lotion and is great if you have dry skin on your hands as it soothes and moisturises at the same time. You can buy the body lotion from Boots, Superdrug and most supermarkets. For the 400ml bottle it costs around £3 to £4 but prices do vary so its worth shopping around.

Good body lotion for dry skin

Growing older I realised that my skin needs more attention and although I have used body lotions for many years I now need a good product to keep my skin feeling moisturised and soft. A few weeks ago I did my weekly shop in the small town where I live rather than driving further to Tesco as we didn't require very much with going away on holiday. I didn't have such a good choice in Somerfields but found something in the St Ives range that I thought would fit the bill.

St Ives is a Swiss company and I have used their products before, the bottle is white plastic with a plain label showing the snow covered Swiss mountains in blue and white trimmed with narrow silver lines. It says 24 Hour Moisture and shows a clock, also a small picture of a pestle and mortar with some herbs and some information that this product is for dry skin and contains "HydrateinTM" to retain moisture all day.

On the back of the bottle the label tells you how to discover the swiss secrets of healthy looking, soft skin, claiming that HydrateinTM not only replenishes moisture but retains it all day. Also that 94% of women who tried it, love it! Plus daily use will prevent seriously dry from recurring.

Am I one of the 94%?

I shower every morning and then apply some body lotion. The directions say to smooth into skin, paying close attention to areas prone to dry skin. I flicked the plastic cap open with my thumb, quite easy to do so full marks for cap opening. My bottle is 400ml and although I can grip it easily within my fingers and thumb, I did find it hard to hold as it is quite heavy and slightly slippy, shapely bottles do tend to be easier to hold. I squirted some lotion onto my hand, it was thick and creamy and held its shape. I would say it is more of a cream than a lotion. There is a slight floral fragrance but not over powering, which becomes slightly more obvious as I apply the lotion and then fades again, so I can only smell it if I sniff at my arm. It is absorbed easily and isn't greasy but leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised. I would say YES, I love it, so I agree with the 94% of women. But does it last 24 hours? Well I'm not so convinced, I think the moisturising affect does fade in time, although my skin still feels soft and quite moisturised when I go to bed about 15 hours later, but not as good as at the start. It is certainly better than more expensive brands I have tried, and my skin still feels quite good in the morning. Overall an excellent product, and the fragrance doesn't affect my perfume.

        What's in it?

If you like natural products then this one should please you as it contains more than 90% naturally derived ingredients including glacial water and Swiss botanicals. There are extracts of several flowers and a huge range of ingredients.

        Cost?

It is worth shopping around for, as it is priced £2.88 in Tesco at the moment and you can buy two items for the price of one. It is £3.98 in Sainsbury and sadly I paid £4.35, so I would have saved some money on one product alone towards my petrol!
