Advantages: Good colour if you are pale
Disadvantages: Not dark enough if you are tanned
St Tropez is a high end range of self-tanning products. They are my favourite self-tanning brand in terms of quality and colour of tan. Many fake tans make you very orange and streaky, but having used many of the other products such as St Tropez Lotion, St Tropez Airbrush, I have always been impressed with the deep, rich golden (rather than orange) brown colour - you look tanned no tango'ed!
This product is one of the "moisturisers with self tan in" similar to Johnson's Holiday Skin. I would say that if you are a brilliant white colour (as I often am in the winter), this product is ideal, to take the glare off your skin as it provides a subtle golden brown colour, rarely streaks (rub in well though) and isn't as obvious as the Lotion. However, at the moment, I am quite tanned after holiday and thought I would use this to keep my tan up, yet it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference - I had thought that it would enhance natural colour, but it just seems to tan you a certain colour and then stop - so obviously with my current tan, this moisturiser isn't doing anything at all.
The smell is the same as the rest of the St Tropez products, which is biscuity and quite strong. My other half said I smelt like a sausage roll the other day which is probably not the best - but the price you pay for a nice tan!
The one difference with this compared to the other St Tropez self tan products, is that you do not need to wash it off the next day, it just develops over time - which actually enhances the smell as well - but you do not look like a mud wrestler when you apply so you could go on a night out with this on as it comes out white and rubs in clear (unlike lotion/aerobronze/mousse). It sparkles subtly so you can see where you have put it.
I think the size is 200ml and it does last a while but they have been sneaky and put a massive hole in the cap of the tube which makes it come out quickly, therefore you end up using more. It is about £14 per tube.
To be honest I would probably not buy this again, because I prefer the aerobronze which gives better colour, better coverage and is generally easier (and lazier) to apply for a few pounds more. The only benefit is that this lasts longer than aerobronze.
Summary: All in all, it isn't orange, it smells average and it isn't dark enough for me.

- 23/08/09 Well stamping - all good vampires know that fake tan is the best disguise of all :)
I am going to have to give Fake Bake a go one of these days :) |

- 23/08/09 I only ever used the St Tropez mousse and I thought it was great, but I feel that Fake Bake lasts a little longer and allows me to build up the colour if i want to darken it.
I wonder if your skin will still sparkle in the sunlight when you're wearing fake tan... :P xx |
