St. Tropez Wash Off Body Lotion
Advantages: Wash on/Wash off, applies well and lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Doesn't give a great tan, cost
I am a girl who likes to be tanned, especially when I am going out. As a rule I tend to use the gradual tanners which I can apply over the course of a few days. These do the job great for me but as the tan starts to fade it can become very patchy and I don't apply it all the time. I was browsing through next online and I spotted that they now do St Tropez tanning products and thought that I would treat myself to something more expensive than my usual brands.
I purchased the St Tropez Wash Off body lotion for £12.00. It comes in a really nice looking silver 150ml tube. It has St Tropez written up the tube in white writing. It looks sleek and trendy and would be something that would look lovely in your bathroom or on your dressing table.
The tube states that it is suitable for all skin tones and that you simply need to apply the product wherever desired using your palms. For starters this was a HUGE mistake by me! I had never used instant tan before I used this one and so I did apply with my bare hands and then had a nightmare trying to get the dark brown staining from my palms! So rule one-Use gloves!!!
I applied the tan to my legs and it gives you a little bit of colour but nothing too dramatic. If I am honest for the price I would prefer to see a bit more colour when I apply it. The actual body lotion is a very dark brown shimmering thin cream and it goes on the skin well and blends pretty easily. It does have a fragrance but it is not offensive which is a nice change from the horrible smell of the gradual tanners! I find that my skin does feel very moisturised and soft afterwards too which again is nice. It doesn't feel greasy. Another positive to note is that you don't seem to need too much of the product to do your legs for example.
The product does not contain any sunscreen which is a bit of a negative. I haven't had to apply sunscreen whilst wearing it but I am not sure if this would make the tan rub off or not. You have to wash the tan off with soap and water and it comes off as easily as you would expect from a wash off product-it just doesn't come off your hands so easily after application!
In summary I think I will probably stick to my gradual tanners. The price of the product coupled with the fact that it doesn't leave too much of a colour makes me think that it is not worth the money.
Summary: I'd be tempted to stick to cheaper alternatives
