I recently recieved a tube of St Topez instant flow body lotion as a tester. Not a product I would buy in the future honestly - Ive tried many tanning mouses and lotions and this one isnt in the with best. I just find it to watery and too time consuming to apply not to mention the glitter. I am not a fan of a glittered body lotion just plain and matte for me. I applied the lotion with a tanning mit and the colour was so intense on the mit I was a bit unsure wether to put it on my skin anyways after I did I wasnt impressed with the product at all it took ages to blend and the colour just wasnt for me. I always see ST TOPEZ as a pricy tanning product and will just stick with ST MORIZ (the cheaper version £4 from local shops like savers, homebargins etc)
This is a review of St. Tropez Wash Off Instant Glow Body Lotion which I was pleased to receive a generous sized product in the beauty advent calendar I tore my way through in December. I love St Tropez and have owned loads of their range in the past but they are expensive which prohibits my purchases a little at the moment!
What is it?
This is an instant tan that washes off so it's a safe bet if you feel it's gone wrong, you can wash it off. Because it is tinted you can also build up the colour as long as you don't shower in between layers.
You can tell just by looking at the tube that this is an expensive brand. The tube is silver with a flip top lid but you do have to be careful when using it as the product is a very dark mucky colour that is not carpet-friendly.
I got a 50 ml tube of this in the advent and a little bit really does go a long way. It leaves the tube easily and is very dark brown in colour. Once applied to the skin it rubs in really nicely and just tints the skin a golden brown. The colour is buildable so if you want to go darker, you just apply another layer once dry. I use it mainly on my arms to take the edge off the whiteness and it feels quite moisturising on the skin. I am careful around my elbow to not apply concentrated colour and will moisturise afterwards with a light moisturiser like baby lotion just to make sure there are no tidelines but so far this hasn't been a problem. Ideally I will use an exfoliator before applying this product to get an even effect but when I don't have time to do this I have still had a good overall effect.
I have seen that there is a facial tanner in this line that is similar but I prefer to use a tan that develops on my face rather than an instant tanner as they can make the face look a bit mucky I think. I found the colour of the instant tanner perfect for my arms and one layer looks very natural and takes the edge of winter pasty whiteness from my skin. Once dried it only comes off when I have a good scrub in the shower and has not transferred to my bed linen like some tans can.
I have seen 150ml tubes of this for sale on Amazon for £7.50 which I think is quite a good price for this brand.
I am really impressed with this instant tan, you really can tan and go (as opposed to tango) with this so it's fine if you are in a rush and need a quick tan. I am impressed with the hydrating qualities of this fake tan and it has left my skin feeling both tanned and moisturised. Smell wise, there is no fake tan smell with this product and that is worth paying a bit extra for!
