Stella McCartney is the fashion designer, daughter of Paul McCartney. Her brand is part of Gucci and offers clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and fragrance.
*~*~*Fragrance and Stella*~*~*
There are currently 4 fragrances available from Stella which are exclusively for women. The original is aptly named Stella and further fragrance releases include Stella In Two, Stella Nude and Stella Rose Absolute.
The original Stella was her first release and is available in the form of an Eau de Parfum, body cream, body milk, pure parfum and also a shower gel cleanser. The scent is said to capture both strength and fragility. The traditional notes used are given a modern edge bringing Stella right up to date.
*~*~*Stella Body Milk*~*~*
A body milk offers a light and hydrating alternative to a cream or lotion. The Stella Body Milk promotes itself as being a melting emulsion which softens, hydrates, uplifts and refreshes the skin whilst leaving the Stella scent lingering. It also should give a glow to the skin.
The bottle housing the body milk is made of white, thick plastic. It slants down at the sides and the dispensing hole is based at the bottom and covered by a small, white flip lid. The bottle is very much like the perfume bottle. The writing is minimal and black which sits nicely against the pure white plastic.
Stella is based around a feminine and sensual rose but with a modern approach. The body milk takes the following notes on board and transfers them onto the skin.
*Top notes - an opening blend of rose essence, peony flower and mandarin essence.
*Heart note - a complex heart of rose absolute
*Base notes - a deep blend of wood and amber to finish the scent off.

For Christmas, my sister made up a huge box of pampering goodies and presented it to me from my son. I was so thrilled as it contained lots of travel sized expensive stuff! In this box, I had 2 x 75ml Stella Soft Body Milk bottles and although I have never sampled any of her fragrances before, I was eager to try this out. I love pampering my skin but need to be careful has lotions with too high concentration of perfume can irritate my sensitive skin.
The bottle is quite unique and although it doesn't boast any fancy designs or colours, it is quite elegant and stylish. The dispensing hole is tiny on my little bottle but don't be fully as the body milk almost gushes out when the bottle is lightly squeezed. The consistency of this true to its name as it is milky. It is thick milk like full fat, creamy milk and is a luminous, white colour. It is ultra cool on my skin and spreads incredibly well.
As I spread the milk over my arms (my roughest and dryest area of my body), it feels soothing and relaxing. The coolness allows it to be fresh on my skin but the scent relaxes my mind so its very versatile. The milk developes from a creamy, white consistency to a fairly oily, transparent texture and takes quite a bit of provoking from my fingers to sink into my skin. I wouldn't say it melts in as some milks do but it is soft and delicate and feels incredibly light as it soaks in. The oily texture stays for a good 5minutes and makes my hands feel icky from rubbing it in so I always need to wash them with a good handwash to get rid of this feeling.
Once the milk has fully soaked into my skin, it feels relieved with light moisturisation and hydration taking hold. The surface of my skin and more so my arms, is softened out to a degree but there is an icky feel still there and it doesn't seem to go away no matter how much I try to rub it in. The milk doesn't perform as well as other designer names in terms of providing me for extra soft and silky skin. The light moisturisation takes effect for only a few hours which I feel disappointed about. There was no glow just an oily shine!
I feel the important factor of a perfumed body product is the scent as if you are wishing to buy it, you want it to smell like the perfume. This way you can build a layer on the skin allowing longer lasting and stronger results. Stella isn't a scent I would have bought for myself. Due to personal tastes, a scent which is almost floral dominated doesn't sit well with me as I love fruity and sweet scents more. A rose can be taken in many ways and I have always considered it to be a more mature scent rather than light and delicate.
Stella captures a rose in a lighter and sweeter form. The scent once on my skin is floral and heavy to begin with. The rose from the top notes is most apparent leaving the remaining top notes lacking. Despite the heart being absolute, I find it to be a bit more subtle in the floral department. It is sweeter and less cloying and offers a striking resemblence to Lancomes Magnifique which is another rose based scent. The lightness of the rose is feminine and suits my young skin better than I thought it would.
The rose essence sits smoothly on my skin for a good 6-7hours and is only noticeable when I get up close to my skin. The base comes through after this time and deepens the scent to reveal a sensual aroma with a dark and woody edge. Amber is a note which I love in perfume and it is warming and romantic in this scent. It combines with the woody notes smoothly and provides a long lasting base on my skin for a further 4-5hours.
Stell Soft Body Milk would suit someone who adores the scent itself. Its deep base allows it to be ideal for evening and special occasion wear and also for romantic occasions.
*~*~*Recommendation and Conclusion*~*~*
Whilst I quite liked the scent of this body milk, I was fairly disappointed with how it made my skin feel. It is certainly not worth the price but if you could get it cheap, I would advise applying a layer of unscented body lotion to your skin and then this over the top for the scent only. I will use up my 2 bottles but won't be buying this for myself.
Thanks for reading. x
