Advantages: Some bubbles, smell is nice while it lasts

Disadvantages: smell and bubbles both fade quickly, a lot needed per bath

I've been trying my best to save money on my one little vice - beauty products - and whilst my preferred bath products would probably be a bath bomb or bubble bar from Lush, they don't work out cheap, so I've been trying out some low-priced bubble baths instead.

For me, my ideal bath product should create lots of bubbles, but more importantly, smell nice. I actually ordered this online so had only the description to go from, but coconut and Shea are two of my favourite fragrances - coconut for the way its scent instantly transports me to lying on a tropical beach and Shea for it's subtle, yet classy and luxurious natural scent. I also imagined that they would blend together quite well, as Shea is very gentle and neutral in scent, and in fact I'd imagine it would actually blend well with almost anything.

The product is described as a bath milk and I think this is mainly to do with its consistency as it's a very runny white liquid. It comes in a tall clear bottle which has a black screw top lid and black label featuring a picture of a coconut and some Shea nuts. The packaging is fine, it serves its purpose, and it may be worth noting for those of you that are a little fussy about what brands go on show in your bathroom, that this doesn't actually have the word 'Superdrug' printed anywhere on the front of the bottle.

To use, you simply need to pour this under warm running water. Unfortunately it became apparent to me quite quickly that should you want any bubbles or foam you will need to pour in quite a large amount of the bath milk into the water, therefore not making it quite as economical as I had hoped it would be.

Once in the water, the scent of the product really comes out. As I predicted it's a very sweet coconut scent with a creamy, luxurious edge, which I assume must come from the Shea butter it contains. The bath milk produces a relatively small amount of bubbles - I'd say you get enough to cover half the surface of the bath water, but unfortunately I have found that the bubbles fade very quickly - I'd estimate that they're gone within around 5 minutes.

Sadly one more thing that doesn't stay around long is the smell. After that initial burst of tropical coconut paradise, the scent quickly fades and is unnoticeable for pretty much the full duration of any bath, which I found very disappointing.

The back of the bottle claims that the extracts in this product will 'leave you skin silky soft and smelling delicious'. I found both claims to be untrue. Shea butter is very well known for its skin softening qualities, however I find after bathing with this my skin feels no different to any other time, and as for the scent...well I mentioned it was untraceable after a few minutes and there's no sign of it on my skin after the bath either.

A 250ml bottle of this will cost £2.44 from Superdrug. As such a large amount of the product is needed per bath it doesn't actually work out too economical unfortunately.

So overall, I felt this was a let down. For the first few minutes of the bath I had a small amount of bubbles and a tropical coconut smell which transported me to a Caribbean beach. Sadly the bubbles and the scent faded pretty quickly, and I was soon brought back with a jolt to the fact I was lying in a plastic bath in the middle of a Newcastle housing estate. It seems my search for a cheap, decent, yummy smelling bubble bath goes on!

Summary: I'm not coconutty about it
