~Coconut and Shea Butter~
Naturals has a coconut and shea butter collection which includes bathing products, hand wash, body butter and a lotion. This review discusses the "Naturals Coconut and Shea Butter Body Lotion".
This body lotion is designed for all over body use. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans and hasn't been tested on any animals. The lotion is enriched with natural coconut oil for its conditioning benefits. It also contains shea butter known for its skin softening benefits.
~Packaging~
This body lotion is available in 3 different types of packaging. The 50ml size is a plastic tube with flip lid at the base. There is a 100ml size (from gift sets) and this is a slim, rounded bottle which is white. This is almost identical to the 300ml size bottle and both feature a flip top lid. There is limited information on the bottle and a pleasant label showing coconuts and shea nuts to confirm the scent.
The packaging can be recycled and has a shelf life of 12months from first opening.
~Price~
This body lotion can be purchased from www.superdrug.com or instore.
50ml - £1.00
300ml - £2.99
Gift set including 100ml shower cream, 100ml body lotion and body puff - £4.99
~My Thoughts~
My Mum bought me a few bits and pieces from the Naturals range a few months ago as a treat. I had never previously tried this range as it looked a bit "normal" compared to my beloved Lush and Soap and Glory! But I will give anything a try especially if it is cheap like this range is. The bottle is nothing particularly inspiring but is easy to squeeze and release the lotion.
The scent choice in the Naturals range is quite good if a bit limited but I'm sure there would something to suit anyone. My Mum knows how much I like coconut so decided this was a safe purchase and she was right. I get through lots of body lotion as I have dry skin which needs to be slathered daily (or twice a day), I own expensive, scented lotions for special occasions but prefer something a bit more affordable and light weight for using during the day.
~Coconut Heaven!~
Applying this lotion straight after towelling off, it is a true treat to apply. Despite being relatively inexpensive, it has an air of luxury about it. The lotion is bright white and has quite a rich, thick consistency. It spreads like a dream and a little blob goes a long way as it turns creamy on contact with my warm skin. The lotion offers comfort to my skin by cooling and refreshing it.
Superdrug claim this lotion is light weight and non greasy. I would have to agree with this statement. Despite its rich texture, the lotion doesn't feel heavy on my skin. It absorbs quickly and feeds my skin with moisture. No greasy layer is left on my skin so I am able to dress quickly.
I found this lotion to be very effective on my tummy area and around my shoulders where my skin is "normal". It left these areas silky soft for most of the day. It wasn't as effective on dry areas such as my arms and legs though these areas are problematic for me and do need something of a more intense nature. For this reason only, I would say the lotion is more suited to those with normal skin types as the shea butter content doesn't seem to be concentrated enough to penetrate deep down through dryness. It appears to soften the surface for few hours before wearing off.
The scent of this lotion is simply divine and if you appreciate coconut, you will like this scent. It is sweet and quite strong at first. The coconut aroma is natural smelling and is initially very creamy and sweet. As the lotion absorbs into my skin, the scent changes slightly to a more exotic coconut and is quite fresh. It doesn't last long though I have been known to top it up with my favourite coconut perfume - Harajuku Lovers "G". It is truly beautiful and I am always disappointed when it wears off.
~Conclusion~
I would say this is a gorgeously scented but basic body lotion. It isn't quite moisturising enough to accommodate extra dry skin but can be applied like a dream to normal skin types and does feel luxurious whilst applying. A 300ml bottle will last quite a long time and is definently a bargain. I wish I had tried the range sooner. The 50ml size would be ideal for taking on holiday and represents excellent value for money all round and the scent would be ideal for holiday use.
Thanks for reading x
