Advantages: Offers good protection, UVA & UVB protection, Water resistant
Disadvantages: Too runny., Drips everywhere
The recent warm weather as usual drew out shorts and white legs in large numbers, and after seeing a lot of lobster-fied people walking around, I decided to invest in a new bottle of sun lotion to protect myself from looking like a strawberry too. (you should buy a new bottle every year folks...as the SPF can reduce with time) So, I entered my local Superdrug to browse the many bottles of sun lotion on offer. I wasn't prepared to pay £14 for a bottle, so decided to look at the Superdrug own brand. I picked up Solait, and was told it shouldn't be any different to other brands. The grand price of £4.99 saw me walk away with some SPF 25, UVA/UVB protection, water resistant sun lotion in a lovely orange bottle. Great I thought! I got home and decided to use my new purchase before sitting in the garden a while. I opened the lid, and turned the bottle upside down and......it spurted everywhere!!!! The lotion was really damn runny! I had it in my hand, but it dripped all through my fingers, and then down the side of the bottle too. But, I persevered and got some on my shoulders. It was easy to apply, and absorbed quickly, but dripped all over me. I estimate that half the lotion I had in my hand to start with didn't actually end up on my skin however! The scent of the lotion wasn't unpleasant, and it didn't irritate my skin (which is prone to being sensitive). It also seemed to moisturise a little, and worked a treat, leaving me looking a normal colour and not burned to a crisp! It did its job, fair enough. BUT the awful runny consistency led to me returning the product. It was literally like pouring water out of the bottle! The staff at Superdrug were very helpful however, and admitted the had had several complaints about it being too runny. I got a full refund. This sun lotion does its job, and if they thickened it up, I would recommend it to you all! However, the present formula leaves a runny mess everywhere, so I wouldn
9;t advise buying it. Remember when you do buy sun lotion to get one that offers both UVA AND UVB protection, and make sure you get a high SPF factor, especially if kids will be using it! I personally won't go for one under SPF 20. Make sure you follow the guidelines, apply it regularly! It will help stop your skin ageing and prevent skin cancer. Skin cancer is a risk to us all, so we should all be aware of it and do what we can to protect ourselves.
