Advantages: leaves skin so soft, is really cheap
Disadvantages: Takes a while to absorb into skin
I bought the Tesco Cocoa Butter Body Lotion because it was so cheap. At £1 for a 400ml bottle I don't think I've found a cheaper body lotion yet. Generally I don't buy cheap products, I don't buy really expensive products either but I tend to think that you get what you pay for. However, money was tight on this particular month and I had run out of body lotion so I decided that I would just make do with this.
This body lotion is specifically for dry skin but I had yet to find a body lotion for dry skin that actually worked on the particularly dry areas of my body (my elbows mostly) so I didn't hold out much hope for this one. If a £12 body butter won't soften my elbows then I certainly didn't expect a £1 body lotion to. So when I applied this to my arms one evening and found that not only were my arms soft but my elbows were also much softer I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not saying that this is some kind of miracle body lotion, my elbows still weren't as soft as the rest of my skin but they were much softer than they had been. In terms of softening skin this product does actually do what it claims to. It left my skin feeling incredibly soft.
This lotion does take some time to absorb into the skin. I use body lotion at night after my shower and I found that with this one I would have to put it on and then wait for five or ten minutes before putting my pyjamas on. I can't stand putting clothes on when the body lotion hasn't absorbed into the skin. In some ways I don't mind so much that this takes so long to absorb because the results are so good but at the same time I would prefer something that was more convenient...I guess I just want it all!
The scent of this product is nice enough. I'm not a huge fan of the cocoa butter scent and from my experience this scent is pretty typical cocoa butter. Fortunately the scent doesn't last long on the skin after it's been absorbed. I have to say that after putting it on I've never really noticed the smell at all. For some people this will be a negative thing but as I said I don't particularly like the smell all that much anyway.
I would highly recommend this body lotion. At £1 it's incredibly cheap and it does exactly what it claims to do. This bottle lasted me about two weeks of using it every day all over my body. Although at such a cheap price it would be value for money even if it only lasted for a couple of days!
