Advantages: It's different, appealing, fruity, tasty!
Disadvantages: None in my opinion!
My 22 month old toddlers are going through a brilliant stage of loving their 'Num Nums' .. to me and you that's teeth brushing. I bought them car shaped toothbrushes to make it all the more special as they are 'brummer' mad also and purchased two different toothpastes one to keep at mine and one at my mums. The one up my mums is in fact Tescos Banana Milkshake flavour toothpaste.
I don't know what drew me to this toothpaste, it may have been the fact that it said New on the tube at the time. The tube it comes in is a child like sized 75ml upside down tube with a screw off lid. It's all bright yellow with a smily faced banana on the front. It clearly says its Tesco Banana Milkshake Flavour Stripey toothpaste too.
This toothpaste has apparently been specially formulated for children to help keep their teeth strong and gums healthy. The toohpaste helps protect your childs teeth from decay and is sugar free. The Banana Milkshake flavour makes teeth cleaning fun and helps to encourage regular brushing.
It does warn on the back of the tube that children under 7 should only use a pea sized blob and should also be supervised, which is common sense if you ask me!
It is very easy to squirt out of the tube and it is as promised, stripey! The stripes are both a white paste and a gel looking yellow. It smells stunning, just like fruity, creamy bananas - I can definitely agree with the statement above about the flavour making it fun just from smelling this paste. More often than not children don't like brushing their teeth so if they enjoy the flavour of their toothpaste they are going to be more willing to brush their teeth. I of course had a little taste of the toothpaste and it is a very sweet, fruity, banana, frothy tasting pastes, extremely tasty just for a toothpaste and I'm sure it would excite any child about to brush their teeth.
I can detect the slight differences from each stripes too. The white, paste stripes provide the pasty and thicker texture and the more creamy and slightly minty and refreshing taste. The thin, yellow gel like stripe provides the banana sweetness that softens the consistency even more and really provides the fruity flavour.
The mintyness is that subtle that my twins actually want to just eat the toothpaste half the time rather than brush their teeth with them. I am lucky in the fact they do enjoy num numbs and find it a fascinating task rather than a dreadful chore, but for any parents with children that really dislike brushing their teeth then I'd recommend this toothpaste, it's a must! It's different to other toothpastes in appearance, smell and taste. It's fruity and tasty too. It looks attractive and appealing and wouldn't put many children off in my opinion. Another plus is this toothpaste cost less than a £1 .. I will definitely be buying this one again that's for sure!
Summary: A Brilliant way to encourage kids to brush their teeth!
