Advantages: Gets rid of odours and germs

Disadvantages: may not like Lavender

The liquid soap in the kitchen was nearly finished so I was looking in Tesco for a bargain and spotted the Moisturising Antibacterial Hand wash which is also soothing.

*What is it like?*

The bottle is opaque and so it is easy to see how much liquid is left, it is a fairly squat bottle with a pale lilac plunger and similar colour label, with writing in navy and white. It contains 250mls and cost about 69p.
The writing on the back of the bottle is in quite small print in navy against the purple liquid so difficult to read unfortunately, but as the front said it was odour neutralising and had lavender extract I decided to try it.
Quote from the back of the bottle "This gentle formula with its mild and creamy lather will cleanse and help condition your hands. The pH balanced formulation contains moisturisers to help prevent dry skin, is dermatologically tested and suitable for dry skin. Containing extracts of lavender renowned for its soothing properties and odour neutralising fragrance to combat common food odours*.
*Tested on fish, onions and garlic"

Does it work?

Once the top was released - why is it so difficult for a man to do a simple task? My husband used some to wash his hands and said it was alright. That can mean many things, but I took it that it was acceptable!
I used it next and squirted the liquid onto my wet hands, it was hard to press the plunger down and a big skoosh shot out! It is a nice thick gel and smelling very pleasantly of lavender but not too strongly. It quickly lathered up and rinsed off leaving my hands both clean and feeling soft.
It seems to remove the smell of garlic very well and fish, and even after touching the scallops we had yesterday there was no trace left on my hands.
Obviously I can't say whether the anti bacterial properties are very efficient but we haven't had any upset tummies or colds whilst lots of other people have been ill, so hopefully washing our hands with this has helped protect us.
My skin, especially on my hands is getting drier as I get older and I was pleased to notice that it didn't make my hands feel dry and itchy as some hand wash gels have. Although after the last kitchen wash up of the day I usually put some cream on, but during the day I have just used the hand wash. My hands smell clean and fresh some time later too, so that's a good thing.

Would I recommend it?

Yes, most definitely as we have to be so careful with germs, and when preparing food it is essential that our hands are clean. People should be aware that when handling chicken particularly, germs can get all over the work surface, around the taps and sinks and then be spread to other foods which may not be cooked and then we become ill. Having a tap that can be switched on using the clean inside of your wrist is beneficial in preventing germs on taps for other people to pick up. Washing your hands with this hand wash and hot water will help prevent contamination of other foods.
I don't have young children but this would be great for people dealing with babies and dirty nappies and for children washing their hands too, as it removes smells as well as dirt and germs.

Summary: Budget anti bacterial handwash
