Advantages: Economical, moisturising, smells nice
Disadvantages: none
I do like my Lush soaps and I tend to keep one in the kitchen for getting that rubber glove smell of my hands when I've just washed up, but I also keep an anti-bacterial hand wash for when I'm cooking because I'm very paranoid about giving myself food poisoning!
At the moment I'm using Tesco's moisturising antibacterial hand wash which I bought for two reasons. Firstly it was cheap, secondly I have dry skin and liked the fact that this one said it was moisturising.
The hand wash comes in a clear bottle with a blue pump action dispenser like the one pictured above. The bottle, if I'm honest isn't very inspiring, but still this is a cheap product so I wouldn't expect anything too fancy and anyway it's functional which is the main thing!
The hand wash is a blue gel and has a pleasant fragrance. It says on the bottle that it contains sea mineral extract, and indeed it does have that 'oceany' type of smell to it, which is slightly on the masculine side, but as a girl, I don't mind it either. In fact, the smell actually reminds me of the Carex hand wash that comes in the blue bottle.
One of the best things that I have found about the product is that only a tiny bit is needed per use. Pressing the pump dispenser down just once will dispense enough product to wash your hands thoroughly and it produces a lovely thick, soapy foam.
Another advantage of this product is that it has been formulated to neutralise odours and has been tested on fish, garlic and onions. It really does seem to get rid of any strong smells from my hands whilst cooking, and leaves them with that fresh sea mineral scent.
As I mentioned, I was attracted to this product because it was moisturising. I have very dry skin and at the moment the skin on my hands is slightly cracked and very sore, so obviously I want to avoid anything that will dry it out further. This product does what it says, and leaves my skin feeling hydrated, and doesn't dry it out like normal soap can.
A 250ml bottle of this will cost just 78p from Tesco a big saving on the £1.33 you will pay for the Carex brand.
So all in all a good product. It gets hands clean, the anti-bacterial action will help fight germs, and the price isn't bad either. I'd certainly buy this again and would recommend it to others.
Summary: A great little buy

- 07/06/09 I love anti bac hand gels but I read an artical saying that they don't kill any more germs than a normal soap does. Weird huh? |
