Advantages: Cheaper than leading brands, smells good, does the job for which it is intended superbly
Disadvantages: none
I used to use pretty much exclusively Johnson & Johnsons products for my sons bath time, for the wonderful baby smell and the popularity of the brand name. I also helped that we were given a lot of Johnson & Johnsons products when they baby was born. Recently I decided to give a cheaper alternative a go and opted for Tesco's My Baby's Bath.
A 500ml bottle of My Baby's Bath would normally cost around £1.04 in comparison to between £2.00 - £2.57 for the same sized J & J equivalent. A massive saving!
The Bath itself pours easily from the bottle (a blue plastic bottle) and is blue in colour. When poured under a running tap it instantly creates mound of bubbles. You really do not need much at all, just two really small squirts is more than plenty. It smells fairly similar to the J & J products to my nose. It has a wonderfully delicate aroma which lives my baby smelling good enough to eat!
It has a no tears formula and is paediatrician approved. I have tried and tested the no tears formula and it is very true to its claim, my son does not bat an eyelash!
It is mild on babys skin and has not irritated my overly sensitive skin at all. We have been using this product for around 5 weeks now every night and Jake's skin is so soft. I have not noticed any difference at all in using this product versus the J & J versions. The only difference is a slightly different but equally as nice smell and a huge difference in the price tag!
I found this product so satisfying that when I did an online shop last week I ordered more bottles while they are still on offer as we had run out anyway, and also thought we could try the talc from the same range. Unfortunately the talc was substituted for My Baby's Top to Toe wash which we have used a few times in the last week and will be writing a review once we have had more time to test its suitability.
Summary: Could this range lead to the fall of J & J? For me it definitely could!
