Advantages: Protects from the sun

Disadvantages: Not as good as the sprays

Like most people over the last couple of days, we have been enjoying the sunshine. Isn't it amazing how a bit of the yellow stuff can make you feel a whole lot happier? Obviously we are constantly being warned about the harmful affects of it and I am a neurotic when it comes to applying suncream especially on my boys. They are ages two and a half and 9 months so their skin isn't particularly weathered so I need something that will stop their fair skin from burning.

I paid a couple of quid for a tube of Tesco's baby suncream last year. It comes in a white toothpaste tube and is SPF50. This means it will give you fifty times more than you skins natural protection will, against the UV rays. It is sensitive enough to use on skin and is water resistant.

The cream is white in colour and is rather thick in consistency. When I squeeze it out, I always reminds me of the trails that the worms leave in the sand, on the beach. Even if it's left in the sun, I find that it still stays fairly thick which I like.

When you first put it on the skin, it is very white and my boys look like a little snowman but it soon soaks into the skin and you are left with a slight shine. As time goes on the shine does disappear but this isn't for a good hour which is a good reminder for me to apply some more.

I not only use this on my boys but my hubby and I always apply it too. I can't stand getting burnt, it's more hassle than it's worth and if I want a tan, I get it sprayed on instead. Thankfully this cream is great at doing what it is suppose to. Over the last couple of days we have all been out in the garden and for most of the day. The boys are looking a nice colour but there are no red marks to be seen having said that my hubby has red shoulders. I'm not sure if he was applying it as liberally or as frequently as I was with the boys though so this may be the reason why.

The boys have had no reaction to the cream but we don't tend to suffer from sensitive skin in our house.

The only downside to this cream is the fact that you tend to pick up bits of grass and leaves when it has been applied and my hands tend to feel a bit sticky after rubbing it in but I think this is unavoidable unless you go for a spray lotion.

Over all I would definitely recommend this cream as it's far cheaper than the name brands but does just as good a job.

Summary: A great affordable cream that works.
