Advantages: cheap(ish), nice taste
Disadvantages: cheap, shoddy, useless
Just about THE only thing I can say in favour of Tesco's Total Care Freshmint Floss is that is tastes good. Kinda tangy, but not too nippy. And the packaging is alright too, I suppose. Other than that I wouldn't waste my time on it again. In fact, I have found the stuff to be sooo useless that I actually used it to tie up my runner beans this summer. And even THAT turned out a disaster....anyway - back to the floss; * It's too thin - it cut into my fingers and I was picking wee wisps outta my teeth for days after.... * It's too smooth - just couldn't get a decent grip on it and gave up practically as soon as i had started. * It splits up into smaller threads - not nice. And the threads actually did get stuck in my gums. Managed to pick them all out, though *phew* * It all comes out of the box at once. V annoying. I was so let down by the failure of such a seemingly simple product that I was all geared up to complain to Tesco - but then I thought; 'nah. that's really sad. Haven't I got anything better to do than to go and complain about dental floss?!"..... Obviously not - seeing as it's a few months later and I'm sitting here having a good old rant about it. Maybe this is therapy. Maybe after this I will be able to let go of the whole sorry affair.... *AHEM!* Sorry - sidetracked. Tesco's own brands are usually not that bad and good value for money, but in this example they have just let the side down. If you are tempted to opt for the cheaper version and buy this dental floss, just forget it! There is not one single thing I can think of which this floss could be put to good use doing. (Except perhaps fishing line....?) I'm not one for advertising, but buy Oral B instead - a far superior brand.

- 04/10/01 A great first opinion. You have just reminded me that I ought to floss my teeth as I have a dentist appointment in 30 mins. Unfortunately I too have the Tesco Floss, so maybe I won't bother. I haven't tried the Oral B version but will give that a go now. Thanks and welcome to Dooyoo. Jo |

- 04/10/01 Welcome to DooYoo a good first opinion. Enjoy yourself and prosper here, although I doubt that any DooYooer earns enough to fill their fridge with just champagne. |
