Advantages: None as far as I can see
Disadvantages: Greasy feel and smell
Tesco Value Soap is not one of my favourite value products from Tesco. I bought a pack of three bars of ordinary plain white soap a few months ago and I have only used one bar a few times.
For some reason I haven't thrown the others away but I don't like this product at all.
The soap has a greasy fatty kind of smell and I can only describe it as smelling like cheap cooking lard. It looks okay in bar form but once it gets wet you do get a lot of lather but it still feels greasy.
I found that it left my skin smelling as though I had been working over a hot fryer for hours. After I had used this to wash my hands, thinking that I would use it up that way, I was really put off by the strange, almost unclean aroma coming from them.
This is a very cheap product and I think it was around 21p for the three rectangular bars in the pack. In this instance you get exactly what you pay for, poor quality soap in minimal packaging. (Not that the packaging is a problem.)
I also found that my skin was spotty and itchy around my hairline and between my fingers after using this soap. I do tend to have a sensitive skin.
This is certainly not worth trying if you have a sensitive skin, or you are using it on young children. Something in this soap also caused slight eczema to flare up on my hands.
Many Tesco Value products are excellent. I use their mint sauce, ginger biscuits, beans and tomatoes, on a regular basis but I wouldn't use any of their cosmetic, soaps, or shampoos after this experience.
I would not buy this product again. It may be cheap but even cheap is a waste of money if i6t doesn't do the job successfully and to a high enough standard.
However, my sister and a friend of mine swear by this and wouldn't buy anything else. They say it is extremely good value and perfect for all the family. I suppose, like all products, it's a matter of personal choice.
I much prefer Dove, or Imperial Leather soap which have stronger perfumes and feel more creamy in use.
Summary: I didn't like this product. It wasn't pleasant to use.
