Better Buy Mouthwash Too If You Buy This (Tesco Value Toothpaste)

Tesco Value toothpaste comes in a white and blue box and costs just 17p for a 750 mils tube. You really do get what you pay for here.

This is a soft, white toothpaste which feels kind of greasy in the mouth. It just doesn't have the same effect as brushing with a thick paste. The consistency is just too soft, not to mention the taste which is sweet but not at all minty.

Studying the box revealed that this toothpaste is actually made in China. I do wonder if there are any toothpaste manufacturers left in cash strapped Britain who might have made the product closer to home.

The ingredients include sorbitol and saccharin which are sweeteners and the colouring agent CI77891 which is based on titanium.

The warning on the box says that children under six should use only a pea sized amount of toothpaste because of the fluoride but it adds that intake of other sources of fluoride should be reported to a doctor. Um! Does that incluse drinking tap water?

The directions for use recommend brushing twice a day which is sensible but they also say that you must use dental floss and mouthwash as well. Surely, placing these instructions under directions for use implies that this product won't do a proper job, so you need to use other things too.

Personally I didn't like the sweet taste or the feel of this toothpaste. It didn't make my mouth feel clean and fresh, so I agree with the manufacturer. If you are going to buy this, buy some mouthwash as well, if you want a clean mouth and fresh breath.

Not for me. I like my mouth to feel clean and tingly!

Summary: Not worth buying. Doesn't leave mouth feeling clean.
