Advantages: Very moisturising

Disadvantages: A bit too thick to work with

This is a review of the Body Shop's Almond Body Butter. I had a 200ml (full size) pot of this when I was pregnant in 2010 with my daughter and have only just finished it!! I have to say that the contents stayed very fresh since opening and did not dry up at all.

Packaging

The 200ml pot is a light beige colour with a big sticker on the lid that has pictures of almonds on it. I It is a screw top lid and very short and squat, similar to other body butter containers on the market.

My pot

I have to admit, this would not have been a flavour I would have picked but it was bought by my Mum as a gift to combat stretch marks during my first pregnancy. I did get a few at the time but they have faded and I was also using oil on my skin throughout.

Fragrance

The first thing you notice with this is the smell of the product when you open the lid. It is quite nutty literally but pleasantly so. I use this body butter on my legs and torso and arms sometimes and have found the fragrance to linger over a day later. I got a bit on the underside of the duvet and had a pleasant waft of it for days!

Consistency[Soft Break]As with body butters, this is the thickest moisturiser on the market and it really helps if you scoop up a bit and rub it between your hands to heat it up before applying so it goes on smoother. A brand new pot will last ages and it is really nice to just stick your finger into a full pot and schulurp it out or is that just me?

Price

At the moment the 200ml pot is on offer for just £5 which is a bargain. You can buy them in smaller sizes too which are ideal for travel. The RRP for the full size is £12.50 but it's best to wait as they often have them on offer.

My thoughts

I am in a bit of a love hate situation with this product. Here's the negatives first:

*It smells just a little bit too strong

*Sometimes if I apply this at night time it makes me feel really sweaty during the night

And the positives:

*The moisturising properties are excellent

*The quality of the body butter is one of the best I have tried

*It lasts ages even with regular use.

Final word

I would like to try this body butter in other fragrances from the line to see if they are just as good. I can't bear strong smelling or fruity body lotions though so would have to be careful with my choice as I don't want to waft around smelling like a Pina Colada! I am tempted by the Brazil Nut one though. I think the price, especially when on offer is brilliant for this and would recommend it to anyone wanting to treat stretch marks or extremely dry skin. I often slather my legs with it before putting jeans and socks on and like to think of it working hard all day whilst I get on with my life.

Summary: OK but not my favourite
