      A beautiful summer body lotion.

I've never been a massive floral fan in terms of beauty product scents. Rose in particular always seemed quite old fashioned and I was convinced I was about fifty years too young to get away with smelling like this. Then I discovered The Body Shop's Atlas Mountain Rose Perfume Oil, I sniffed it in store out of curiosity and fell immediately in love with it and, as they say, the rest is history.

Since then I've gone on to own everything within this range and its pretty much all I've used over these last few weeks. I've found this scent goes hand in hand perfectly with the summer we're actually getting this year so I've taken it upon myself, with the help of these products, to ensure I always smell like a garden rose in the sun.

In the bath or shower I'll wash my body with the Atlas Mountain Rose shower gel, I'll dry myself off and moisturise with this Atlas Mountain Rose body lotion, I'll scent my skin with the perfume oil, use the EDT to scent hair and clothes and liven the scent up during the day using the fragrance mist from the same range. Perfect!

The lotion comes in 250ml bottles costing £10 from The Body Shop's high street stores or their website. A smaller 60ml bottle can be purchased as part of a gift set although not on its own.

The bottle is a tall, cylinder see through plastic one, there's a pump dispenser at the top for releasing the lotion and plenty of information and pretty illustrations around the bottle's body. The pink colour scheme looks girlie and elegant, the landscape silhouette in the background of the bottle's label looks beautiful and the sketches of fully bloomed rose heads add the finishing touches stylishly. The Body Shop's logo is present on the bottle along with the product name. A little product information can be found on the back along with the usual ingredients list and a little stamp informing us this lotion is made with natural ingredients.

The lotion is described as being 'infused with Atlas mountain rose extract. A bright and dewy fragrance blend of rose and musk accords inspired by dawn in the valley on roses'. The lotion aims to 'hydrate and moisturise your skin' and is 'enriched with community fair trade sesame seed oil, brazil nut oil and shea butter'. The lotion is cruelty free and contained in a recyclable plastic bottle making this a friendly product to animals, humans and the environment.

One firm press on the pump dispenser releases a blob slightly smaller than a pea size of this body lotion and I find six or seven pumps is enough to adequately cover all of my body in this white, fairly runny lotion. It's easily rubbed in and absorbs into the skin really quickly before drying in a matter of seconds so I can get dressed pretty much immediately after.

It smells beautiful. It's a really sweet, floral and obviously rose scent with an underlying note of musk, very natural smelling and, although a rather strong scent, still quite light. Its scent does end up filling my room when I'm applying it and it lingers on the skin for hours, easily detectable the whole time. It never becomes over powering though, at least not in my opinion anyway. I always feel the scent remains light, crisp and fresh. Combined with the perfume I always gets loads of compliments when I've 'rosed' up on this stuff.

It's moisturising effects are also light, one absorbed you can't feel this sitting on the skin or anything like that again making it ideal for this hot weather, when you're already feel quite hot and clammy the last thing you want is a load of heavy product on your body.

I do suffer with sensitive skin and I haven't experiences any bad reactions to this either. Its moisturising properties are probably not best suited to those with particularly dry skin. I use different lotions for my knees and elbows, for example, as these are really dry areas on my body and this doesn't hydrate them enough alone. For the rest of my skin, however, this does a wonderful job. It leaves the skin, soft, smooth and hydrated. It's lightweight and smells absolutely beautiful, a long lived scent too. Personally I just love this stuff and would highly recommend it.
